W.A. Oaks 2023 Preview

Track: Good   Weather: Fine

Ten fillies have accepted for the $300,000 W.A. Oaks. Eight of them had their last start in the Listed Natasha Stakes over 2200m on the 12th of March, while the other two came via different races. Two runners are sired by My Admiration and trainer Daniel Morton has two runners.

Two horses are vying for early favouritism with Natasha Stakes winner She’s Fit and Natasha Stakes 3rd placegetter Admiration Express. Third favourite is Megami who finished 2nd in that race, while Lindem Lady ran 4th. All other runners are currently $20 or more.

2023 W.A. Oaks Runner by Runner

1. Admiration Express (4)

One of two runners sired by My Admiration (the other is Bermbrae). She has 2 wins and 4 places from her 7 starts. Last outing she was an odds-on favourite in the Natasha Stakes and finished 4.9 lengths 3rd. She meets the others better at the weights this time around but may not stay as well. Should at least place.

2. Megami (1)

After being slowly away she chased solidly to finish 2.3 lengths 2nd in the Natasha. Should be in the first few home again.

3. She’s Fit (3)

One of two runners for Daniel Morton (the other is Lova Session). She broke her maiden with a 2.3 length win in the Natasha at her 5th race start. Major chance again.

4. Laquetta’s Gift (9)

Has 3 wins and 4 places from 11 starts. Won over 1500m at Pinjarra then didn’t appear to stay when 7.6 lengths 5th in the Natasha. Looking to others.

5. Linden Lady (10)

Fought on evenly for 4th in the Natasha. Has only one win in 11 starts. Gets William Pike and could place.

6. Let Her Boogie (5)

Wound up steadily and took over late for a 1.6 length win over 1600m at Albury on a soft track on 16th March. Place chance.

7. Marri Martini (7)

Has finished well back at her last 2 starts. Looking elsewhere.

8. Royal Elite (8)

She has had seven starts for a win and a place. Prefer others.

9. Bernbrae (6)

Finished 6th in the Natasha. Could improve on that.

10. Lova Sesssion (2)

The only maiden runner in the field. Appears tested.
