Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes – 2023

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Thirteen two year old fillies have accepted for the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes.  There’s a myriad of different form lines to assess here.  Amazonian Lass opened favourite and is on the drift as is the second favourite Hell Queen.  Coast Princess and Ana Jaahza are the two horses the market is trending towards in early betting.

1. Shaddow Fear

Western Australian who was okay through the line here last start.  In the mix.

2. Hell Queen

Ran home well into second behind Maharba here first up, then was far too good back to maiden grade at Bendigo.  Expecting her to run well.

3. Zousuko

Was second in the Blue Diamond Preview on debut, then was safely held in the Prelude.  Blinkers go on for the first time.

4. Amazonian Lass

Waterhouse and Bott trained filly.  Kept kicking to break her maiden on debut at Warwick Farm.  The extra 100m should suit.

5. Coast Princess

Scored narrow victory in Pakenham maiden last start after racing wide.  Third horse has since come out and won impressively.  The Hayes two year olds are flying!

6. Treasurway

Liked her run on debut at Moe.  Think she has been relatively plain her last two though.  Fourth run first prep an issue.

7. Ana Jaahza

Debut Ballarat winner.  Was well supported there and looked to have a bit of strength through the line.

8. Celestial Storm

Ran really well at her only try down the straight back in November and is rock hard fit.

9. Bossy Nic

Started a big price on debut over in Adelaide.  Ran home well into second but the bunched finish worries me.

10. Anthophila

Was 3.5 lengths behind Hell Queen at Bendigo last start.  Rough top 3 chance.

11. Lovazou

Debutant from the Danny O’Brien yard.  Was third in a Colac jump out at only public appearance.  Market your best guide.

12. Mochi

Was seventh on debut at Sandown.  Needs to improve many lengths to play any role here.

13. Poppin’ Champagne

First starter for Price and Kent.  Has been moving well at the jump outs and gets the services of B Melham.  Wouldn’t have to be a superstar to beat this lot.
