Doncaster Prelude – 2023

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Intriguing race. Bandersnatch didn’t have much luck when resuming and looks well placed against this lot. Cross Talk will land on the speed and prove hard to get past. Waterford brings a case but will need plenty to go right from the bad barrier while Muhnamek has claims and Diamil can run a bold race fresh.

1. Mount Popa (17)

Can’t have.

2. Skyman (1)

Quality galloper that can turn up fresh. His running pattern doesn’t suit barrier 1 but this race is within reach.

3. Yonkers (4)

Keep an eye on the market. Capable of winning this fresh.

4. Bandersnatch (9)

Didn’t get much luck last start and looks suited to this field with a pinch of luck from the wide draw. Avdulla sticks and this race is within reach.

5. Cross Talk (8)

Hard to knock. Has an excellent running pattern. Will plonk on speed and give a bold sight. Worth keeping safe and well respected by the market.

6. Diamil (2)

Poor record at the track and needs a bit to go right in races but suited by the conditions and maps Kindly. Can win.

7. Riodini (5)

Hit and miss and yet to win with King aboard and from 6 goes on the track. Happy to avoid.

8. New Mandate (20)

Can’t have.

9. Great House (14)

Improves over further.

10. Kukeracha (21)

Improves over further, follow later on in the prep.

11. Lord Admore (22)

Can’t have.

12. Waterford (18)

Unlucky last start and is up to these but barrier 18 is the concern. Can win but needs a fair share of luck.

13. Munhamek (11)

Keeps winning and looks nicely placed in this field. Yet to see the track but respecting the winning form in a race where some of these aren’t bringing it.

14. Times Square (10)

Import who’s chances will be best guided by the market. Has the class and quality.

15. Welwal (12)

Has been a nightmare to catch since hitting AUS shores but a very good run last start has it in the mix. Prefer other jockeys to be riding. Keep safe but hard to trust.

16. Worsfold (6)

Prefer in something easier.

17e. Caesars Palace (16)

This looks too tough.

18e. Cuban Royale (13)

Knows how to bob up at odds. Tricky draw but worth keeping safe and respecting the market.

19e. Laure Me In (15)

Can’t have.

20e. Kiss The Bride (7)

Can’t have.

21e. Esti Fenny (3)

Prefer in easier.

22e. Atishu (19)

Likely to be scratched.
