Intriguing field with Prowess the favourite and the filly from NZ is building a commanding record. This is no given as Pavitra couldn’t have been any more impressive last start and looks hard to topple in this. The best version of Fireburn would be taking this race out while Pierossa has to turn the tables on Pavitra from last time they met but did make up good ground late and looks nicely placed in this field.

1. Prowess (4)

Raider that ticks boxes. Brings in the right form, maps well and looks hard to beat. Short enough in markets and was beaten by 3.5 lengths by Legarto but that might do enough here. Goes close.

2. Fireburn (6)

Went forward and ran well last start. Finally draws a gate and gets back onto wet ground. If Fireburn is going to break the Slipper curse, now is the time. Exceptional horse that can win this.

3. Pavitra (9)

Just has to hold its form to be winning. Brilliant last start effort and absolutely demolished most of these. Looks primed to be doing the same.

4. Polygon (12)

Expected more fresh but should improve with the jockey upgrade and cut in the ground.

5. Papillon Club (3)  – SCRATCHED

6. Soul Choice (13)

Classy stayer with form around Dunkel who is very talented and had excuses the other day when it pulled up lame. No favours from the draw but can run well here.

7. Pierossa (2)

Excellent run last start making strong late ground. Maps Kindly from barrier 2 and looks a very nice place bet. Very much suited by the 2000.

8. Call Di (8)

Thought it was too short last start and ran accordingly. Can run well here but can’t see it troubling Pavitra.

9. So Dazzling (5)

Good effort behind Pavitra and suited by the rise in trip. Has to find a few lengths but has shown in the past it can do just that.

10. Byron Belle (10)

Eligible for easier but has shown some good talent to date. Wouldn’t shock me at the $67.00.

11. Infinitive (7)

Prefer others.

12. Frankie’s Me Dad (11)

Can’t have it from the wide draw.

13. Whisky Wisdom (1)

This looks too tough.

14. Stormy Witness (14)

Can’t have.
