2022 The Coast Race Details
Race 9 at Gosford on Saturday 7 May 2022.
The Coast is a 1600 metre quality handicap race for 3YOs and 4YOs run by the Gosford Race Club with prizemoney of $500,000. It is held in May as a feature event of the meeting on the same day as the Gosford Gold Cup and the Takeover Target Stakes.

The Coast 2022 Preview
Track: Heavy Weather: Possible showers
There are 13 runners for the $500,000 The Coast, with eight geldings, two entires, two mares and a filly. Chris Waller and Kris Less both have two runners each. Two runners had their last start in the Group 3 Frank Packer Plate over 2000m at Randwick on 16 April and two in a BM 78 Handicap over 1600m at Randwick on 23 April while the rest all came through different races.
The early favourite is five-year-old Our Playboy who won the Randwick 100 Handicap over 1400m at his latest outing, has an excellent record at this distance and goes well on soft and heavy tracks. Second favourite is Diamil who also has a good record at the distance. Third favourite is Rustic Steel who has five wins from 11 starts and also has won on soft and heavy going.
Old Flame is lightly-raced with three wins from six starts. Kiku has been racing at Group level and handles the wet well. Kinloch won two in a row before 3rd in the Tamworth Cup. Steinem has been racing at Group level but is a query on heavy going, while Party For One is on a seven day back-up. All other runners are currently 15 to 1 or longer.
