Race 7 at Gold Coast Racecourse on Saturday 7th May 2022.

The 2022 Brandons Gold Coast Guineas is held at the Gold Coast Racecourse and is run over 1200 metres. It is a Group 3 race for the three year olds and is run under set weight conditions. The total prize money is $150,000.

Track: Soft Weather: Fine

Interesting mix of form lines to battle it out over the 1200. Prince Of Boom leads the market and hasn’t put a foot wrong this prep looking for a hat trick of wins here. Alpine Edge can be the big improver at odds second up while Sword Of State should enjoy a soft track and if it can put it all together may just be too classy for these. If the speed is on upfront, Me Me Lagarde will be the one flying home.

1. Alpine Edge (10)

A shade disappointing fresh but should be the big improver 2nd up. Over the odds at the moment but will need some luck from the draw.

2. Prince Of Boom (16)

1/1 at the track and 2/3 over the trip. Very hard to knock the way it is going however up another level of depth and barrier 16 are two new areas. Deserves to be well in the market but does look short enough.

3. Sword Of State (4)

Super chance provided the track has a bit of give in it. Maps kindly, brings in excellent form lines and looks the clear one to beat but just doesn’t want a rock hard surface. Primed to win this.

4. Starman (21)

Has talent and class. Waller is very good at placing them. Barrier 21 does not make things easy but can give a sight if the tempo up front is strong.

5. Zethus (17)

Just on the one career win and this race isn’t an easy task. A Bowman special will be needed from the draw but isn’t hopeless at odds.

6. Battleton (15)

If they run here it does look an excellent chance. Also nominated elsewhere so has the potential to be scratched.

7. Meritable (14)

The market should be a good guide and the form does look right. Major player with even luck from the draw.

8. Grey Defence (8)

Long odds and needs to lift to be winning this.

9. Zarastro (12)

Showed plenty of promise early doors but has failed to deliver on that of late. A market watch is advised but needs to lift on current form.

10. Me Me Lagarde (9)

Has an outstanding turn of foot that is good enough to win this race. Will need some luck from the draw but is a great chance at generous odds.

11. Four Moves Ahead (20)

Nicely placed in a field of this depth and despite the wide draw can certainly win this. Back able odds.

12. Rhapsody Rose (18)

Not known to produce fresh and no wins from 4 attempts at the track so does look slightly under the odds.

13. Miss Hipstar (7)

Classy operator and maps better than most of its rivals. Tends to mix its form but is right in this race at odds.

14. Joyous Legend (3)

Maps very well and that will be the advantage to its rivals. Just on the one career win but does get the right run in transit. Some hope.

15. Mayorse (13)

Can improve and win this at big odds. Has the right form from NSW and is in the mix.

16. Putontheredlight (6)

Not hopeless at odds but will need to find a few lengths to win this. Gollan is one of the best in the business and knows how to get them ready for thie big races. Market watch advised.

17. Oriental Princess (2)

Can’t have.

18. Peregrination (5)

Long odds and looks out of it.

19. Emmy Regina (19)

Can’t have.

20. Mystic Aroma (1)

Not hopeless at $101 and is worth a small speck if the market likes it.

21. Nord Lyon (11)

Can’t have from the draw and with current form.
