Ken Russell Memorial Classic – 2022

Track: Soft  Weather: Fine

All eyes on Nettuno here at the short odds and has been nothing short of impressive thus far in its career. Robusto represents the Waller yard with Bowman to steer while London creates plenty of interest with form around the Golden Slipper winner Fireburn. All up, one of the better races on the card.

1. Mishani Spartan (7)

Watch for any market moves. This is not an easy race to return in but it does have upside.

2. Allude (5)

Query on the form but all you can do is win and it got the job done first up. Not hopeless but I do prefer others.

3. Nettuno (4)

Has been outstanding to date and looks awfully hard to hold out. I’d be declaring it if London wasn’t in the race, that will pose a challenge. Sets up well from the draw, has been putting them to the sword with ease thus far and can do so again here.

4. Robusto (11)

Always respecting the NSW form in Queensland. Doesn’t map kindly but can win this at odds. Prefer others but not without a chance here.

5. Fearless Knight (10)

On form this does look a big too tricky. Monitor any market moves as it could surprise these fresh.

6. Slipper Island (3)

Excellent first up win and sets up nicely from the draw. Good map and sound chance at odds.

7. West Of Africa (14)

J-Mac sticking is quite a good push here. Did well on debut however the form hasn’t been franked. Looks a little under the odds for mine off that factor and launching from the wide draw. That being said, J-Mac retaining the ride is a huge push in its self.

8. Zou Tiger (12)

Good hope if the rain arrives. Unknown on a drier track but can show up at odds.

9. London (9)

Brings in some hot form around the Golden Slipper winner Fireburn. That does put these to the sword, I am unsure if it will run here or elsewhere. The current $13 does look over the odds and it looks a huge chance.

10. Sheeza Belter (2)

Can improve from the draw and market support would be ideal. Not hopeless at handy odds but do prefer others.

11. Grace’s Secret (6)

2/2 thus far in its career. Over the odds in this field and wouldn’t surprise. Best chance at the $20 range and can run well from the draw.

12. Rose Of Shiraz (15)

Can’t have.

13. Stroll (8)

Monitor market moves fresh. Won well on debut then a little disappointing 2nd up. Can bob up in the finish in this.

14. Midnight In Tokyo (13)

Can’t have.

15. Iron Grace (1)

Long odds. This looks too tricky.
