2022 Port Adelaide Cup Race Details
Race 4 at Morphettville on Saturday 7 May 2022.
The Port Adelaide Cup is a Listed 2500 metre quality race that is run by the South Australian Jockey Club in May. It is normally run at Morphettville during the Adelaide Racing Carnival.

Port Adelaide Cup 2022 Preview
Track: Good possible Soft Weather: Possible Shower.
Thirteen runners have accepted for the $107,250 Listed Port Adelaide Cup and there have been no early scratchings. The Leon MacDonald & Andrew Gluyas stable all have two runners engaged whilst the remaining trainers have one entry each.
Maserartie Bay has come up the early favourite despite also being entered for Warrnambool on Thursday. He is going for three wins in a row following a 2400m win at Caulfield. Designs is the next one in the betting and she is also looking for three in a row. She was a convincing winner over this track and distance last start in a much weaker grade.
Splendiferous rounds out the top three in betting and she brings her form from Victoria following her all the way win at Sale over the 2200m.
Port Adelaide Cup Runner by Runner
1. Maserartie Bay (2)
Entered for Warrnambool on Thursday. Providing he runs here, he will be a solid chance despite having to carry the top weight.
2. Nordic Pride (12)
Forgive last start as he was wide without cover. Previous form suggests he can be competitive but the draw doesn’t help.
3. Splendiferous (7)
Likely to put the pace on. Has been up since February. Could run a cheeky race.
4. Designs (8)
Handles the distance with no worries but this has been the hardest for some time. Kah aboard signals this could be a target considering she has been up since October last year. Maps well.
5. Does It (10)
Going for three on the trot. Drawn poorly and this looks tough but a solid run wouldn’t surprise.
6. Pearl Bandit (13)
Can’t have.
7. Toyetic (1)
Going for three in a row. This looks too tough.
8. Santelmo Fuego (6)
Could run a cheeky race.
9. Comfort Girl (9)
Suited by the distance though this might be too tough for her.
10. Smiling Assassin (3)
Similar to Comfort Girl. Distance suits but looks too tough.
11. So Bene (5)
Ran second in a Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes which has her right up to this. Could run a bold race.
12. Turf Man (4)
Can’t have.
13. Conquest of Tears (11)
Can’t have.
