Fourteen runners have accepted for the $202,250 Group 2 Queen of the South Stakes and there have been no early scratchings. The Anthony & Sam Freedman stable and the Tony & Calvin McEvoy stable are saddling up two runners each whilst every other trainer has just one entry each.

Sirileo Miss has opened the favourite in the betting following her second placing to rival Comica at a 1400m race at Caulfield. Comica is second in the betting and not only beat Sirileo Miss last start by 1.6 lengths but she is also looking to win three in a row and four of her last five races. Foxy Frida rounds out the top three in the betting following her poor run in the Victoria Handicap last time out.

1. Kahma Lass (1)

Luckless run in the Victoria Handicap but the previous form didn’t have her winning that anyway. Drawn well but will need luck.

2. La Dragontea (12)

Jamie Kah going on is going to draw eyes but she is first-up after 161 days and this is her first Australian start from Europe. Will want longer so expect her to be hitting the line well.

3. Starelle (11)

Comes out of the same race as Comica and Sirileo Miss. Goes okay second up and gets Craig Williams back aboard. She can run a cheeky race.

4. Tokorangi (5)

Brilliant win in much weaker company last time out but has 1600m/2000m form around Group 1 company in New Zealand and her figures first-up were very good. This is her second preparation here in Australia and I expect her to make her presence known from a nice draw.

5. Foxy Frida (4)

Poor in the Victoria Handicap. Will need to improve.

6. Sirileo Miss (6)

Drops 2kg from last starts second placing where she was wide without cover. Drawn well and Oliver remains aboard. Big chance again.

7. Belle Plaisir (3)

Won well at Oakbank but this looks too hard.

8. Silent Sovereign (14)

Blinkers on for the first time. Mile suits but likely to give a start from the draw.

9. Magna Bella (9)

Can’t have.

10. Comica (2)

If she replicates her last start effort, she will go close from the draw. I have a few in front though.

11. Brazen Song (8)

Outclassed.

12. Hearty Lass (10)

Can’t Have.

13. Wild Imagination (7)

Will hit the line but wants further.

14. Grandma Gail (13)

Outclassed.
