Blue Diamond Prelude (F) – 2023

Track: Good Weather: Fine

A capacity field of fifteen fillies plus two emergencies attempt to throw their hat in the ring for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes in two weeks time.  Five are last start winners while four are unraced.  The current race favourite and Blue Diamond favourite Charm Stone resumes in her second preparation with Mark Zahra in the saddle.

1. Charm Stone

Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr trained filly who won impressively over 1000m at start two on Oaks Day.   Resumes here off the back of a sharp jump out and has drawn well.  Deserved favourite.

2. De Sonic Boom

Rocketed home up the inside to win the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview here on Australia Day.  That race only rated fairly but she has upside.

3. Exploring

Stuck on well enough in a swoopers race here last start.  1100m a query.

4. Remedies

Resumes.  Bolted in on debut at Cranbourne in November, then boxed on okay at Caulfield.  Not sure about 1100m first up with only one jump out.

5. Shaddow Fear

Has been impressive winning both starts in Perth.  Should settle on the speed and be given every chance.

6. Party For Two

Has won his last two in Queensland.  In the mix.

7. Zousuko

Took a while to wind up in the Preview but was really charging late giving every indication she is looking for the extra 100m.  Rough chance.

8. Cigar Flick

Looked the winner in the Widden Stakes at Rosehill last start before peaking on the run late.  That form has to be respected here.  Logical danger to the favourite.

9. Furosshi

Finished midfield in the Blue Diamond Preview.  Can’t have.

10. Chill The Krug

Off 49 days.  Got home well for second at the Valley on debut but I would question whether that form is a strong enough to be featuring here.

11. Sensical

Was third in the Blue Diamond Preview.  A solid run.  Consider for multiples.

12. Dreamwoman

Good effort breaking maiden on debut on Boxing Day.  This is harder.

13. Beauty Rising

Got home well after being run off her feet early at Moonee Valley on debut.  Looked good winning recent Pakenham jump out and could get a pretty good run in transit here.  Don’t discount.

14. Atlantic Spirt

First starter.  Haven’t seen enough in jump outs to be recommending.

15. Subrising

First starter.  Happy to watch.

16. Extreme Threat (Emerg 1)

Jump outs have been sound.  Happy to watch though.

17. Soju (Emerg 2)

Speedy type who could find the top if she gets a start.  Last 100m the concern for her.
