Light Fingers Stakes – 2023

Track: Good Weather: Good

Another cracking race which sees the return of In Secret from the Godolphin camp. It finds a beautiful draw and should get its chance against these. Sunshine In Paris has been ultra impressive in 3 runs to date and looks nicely placed against these. Fireburn let me down a few times last prep. Its best would win this race but its hard to know where it is at and again finds a tricky draw. Sheeza Belter is the blow out hope and has stacks of upside with a gap to the rest.

1. In Secret (3)

Deserves to be favourite in this. Nash steers from the good draw and no denying the quality of this Filly. She will take beating against her own sex, albeit not jumping in at the $1.85.

2. Fireburn (10)

Poor last prep. When she is right to go she is as good as these if not better but does need to lift. Market watch advised.

3. Zougotcha (4)  – SCRATCHED

4. Madame Pommery (9)

Mixed form a little last prep but her best is good enough. Collett is riding in great form. Best to keep an eye on the market for its chances.

5. Sheeza Belter (11)

Wouldn’t shock me at handy odds. Put the writing on the wall at the end of last prep and boasts some strong form lines. Pike does the steering from the sticky draw. This race is within reach.

6. North Star Lass (2)

Can plonk on the speed with Tim Clark steering and will get every chance from barrier 2. Might lack the form that some of these have but gets promoted if the track is favouring those on speed.

7. Revolutionary Miss (8)

Should enjoy the good track. Didn’t win last prep and comes up with a sticky draw and out of form jockey. Prefer others.

8. Wolverine (7)

Has upside and is ensured a nice tempo here with good speed engaged. Might be a bridge too far this early but keep an eye on the market.

9. A Lot More Love (13)

Good form has come out of its races. Barrier 13 fresh against these is a tough task but not completely ruling it out.

10. Razeta (6)

Prefer others.

11. Sunshine In Paris (1)

Racing in really good fashion and can pose a threat to the favourite in this. Maloney should give it every chance from barrier 1 and if In Secret isn’t ready to go fresh then this is the likely winner.

12. Cinderella Days (12)

Flying. Decent leap in grade but did go up enormous odds. Not without a chance in this despite the draw.

13. Byron Belle (5)

Won for us at big odds as best of the day. Not hopeless, could be worth a dollar on at the $101 and will be strips fitter for the maiden win.
