The Sunline Stakes – 2022

Track: Good  Weather: Fine

A small but competitive field headed by Flying Mascot who since bumping into Probabeel and giving it an almighty scare, hasn’t looked back posting 2 consecutive wins. Barb Raider will be fierce competition and also likes to land on the speed and certainly knows how to find the line. If the pace is on upfront Groovy Kinda Love and Shout The Bar will be rattling home and the chances don’t end there.

1. Shout The Bar (6)

Did beat Odeum a little while back and suited back onto a dryer track. Wouldn’t shock.

2. Quantum Mechanic (7)

Hard to catch running pattern but Kah enhances its chances. Does handle the track well and is a top 4 chance.

3. Flying Mascot (3)

No spoilers with the price but it is the clear one to beat. Lands on the speed from barrier 3 and at Moonee Valley once they find the front they are very hard to run down. 1/1 over the track and its distance suits. Deserves to be short.

4. Bonvicini (1)

Going okay but 3 wins from 20 is the concern. I couldn’t entertain it in my numbers but the stable know how to produce them for the big races.

5. Bound To Win (2)

Not hopeless but isn’t in my numbers. Rock hard fit and can pounce if they go hard up front but deserves to be long odds.

6. Groovy Kinda Love (5)

Has to find 2 lengths on Flying Mascot but that certainly isn’t impossible. No swing at the weights but the place odds of $4.20 are very appealing.

7. Barb Raider (4)

Will be on the speed and giving a sight. Danger to Flying Mascot but I have a feeling it’ll drift a touch. Its last run rated well but it copped no pressure in the lead and this is a lot harder. Some hope but needs to find to win.
