Albury Gold Cup – 2022

Track: Good  Weather: Fine

A race for the stayers where plenty of form lines come into play and a mixture of country and city trainers clash to see who can win the Albury Gold Cup. The Waterhouse-Bott stable is represented by Entente who loves to play catch me if you can and will be leading them on a merry dance. Harmony Rose brings in some strong Sydney form while Five Kingdom has certainly been a model of consistency and Look Sharpish is banging on the door for a win. Open affair with plenty of chances.

1. Entente (3)

Lands on the speed and gives a huge sight for backers. 4th up is the perfect time to be backing Entente and it has big claims in this race. Likeable map and strong stable, it will be in the finish and is a good each-way price.

2. Dark Dream (7)

Comes across from Victoria and brings form around Pondus and Desert Icon which is certainly good enough for this. Barrier 7 is slightly tricky but looks a great chance.

3. Harmony Rose (5)

Has been a little disappointing its past few runs but this drop in grade brings it right into contention and Schiller is 2/2 aboard Harmony Rose. I’d almost be declaring it if Entente wasn’t in the race but I doubt Harmony Rose will be getting all its own way up front. Nevertheless, hard to beat here.

4. Silkandarabad (10)

The last run was a sign of improvement. It will need some luck from the draw and doesn’t have an overall amazing winning strike rate but certainly is in the mix.

5. Five Kingdom (4)

Can stalk the leaders and gets Jezz Penza in the saddle. Great map sitting just behind the speed and should be well in the market. Good chance.

6. Maurice’s Medad (11)

The map looks tricky for Maurice’s Medad so Ryan will need to produce a very good ride. Only on the one career win but can win this. The form around Hitotsu and Anamoe is very strong.

7. Chapel Lane (2)

Doubt this is the right form for the race. I’d like to see a market push.

8. Look Sharpish (12)

Has been racing without any luck and certainly has claims in this field. Doesn’t bring in the strongest form but is a genuine stayer that will see out the trip. Wouldn’t shock at odds.

9. Roman (6)

Decent rise in grade for Roman and I prefer others.

10. Gottaluvtrucks (1)

Can’t have.

11. Tullaghan  (9)

Can’t have.

12. Rent A Rock (8)

This looks too tough for it.
