Alexandra Stakes – 2022

Track: Good  Weather: Fine

A very progressive bunch will fight out the Alexandra Stakes and many of these are coming off convincing last start wins. Not much separates these in the market, headed by So You See who was luckless last run. Ancient Girl comes off a convincing 2 and a half-length win, while Daises and Bon’s A Pearla both don’t have much separating them and both bring in strong form lines for the race. Open race with little separating these in the market.

1. Bon’s A Pearla (10)

Given no favours drawing barrier 10 but the Hitotsu and Lightsaber form look outstanding for this race. Requires a Brett Prebble special but likely wins if it gets it.

2. Daisies (1)

The map from barrier 1 is the knock for Daises who was enormous first up and brings in the right form. Where it gets to from barrier 1 is a massive query, especially on this track so the steer will need to be special but it also deserves to be kept safe. If the splits open in the straight and Zahra can weave a path it’ll be rattling home.

3. Ancient Girl (9)

lands on the speed and likely gets the run of the race despite the draw with Ben Allen who I think will be filled with confidence after riding Marabi the race prior. I’m not convinced Ancient Girl has the best form for this race but the way it maps is too hard to ignore and if they leave it alone up front a special performance will be required to run it down. Gets the favours with the run and can win.

4. Tilianam (8)

I can’t have against these. Its best efforts win but at the moment off its last few runs that would be a surprise.

5. Douceur (3)

Has the turn of foot and the talent to win. I couldn’t fit it in my numbers but It certainly can win.

6. Fortunate Kiss (7)

Always had plenty of time for Fortunate Kiss and its a very good chance at a price. Luck in running will be crucial from the draw and on this track but I think it is the best chance at double figures.

7. Marcana (6)

Does handle the track and has the services of Jamie Kah. Already a winner 2nd up and at $17 would cause no surprises taking this out.

8. So You See (5)

Unlucky last start in a high rating race. Deserves to be kept safe and maps well but does look slightly under the odds for mine. This race is very open and I had it marked about $4.50, however, it does also look like a top 3 chance.

9.Quite The Lass (4)

Can’t have.

10. Always On My Mind (2)

The map looks tricky but does have a very good turn of foot. Wouldn’t shock but couldn’t find room for it in my numbers.

11. Extreme Emotion (11)

Can’t have.
