The Schweppervescence – 2022

Track: Likely Heavy Weather: Chance of Showers.

Fourteen runners and four emergencies have accepted for the $160,000 Group 3 Schweppervescence and there have been no early scratchings. The Annabel Neasham stables, Team Snowden, and the Gerald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou stable all saddle up two runners (including emergencies) whilst the other stables only have one entry each.

Boyfriend is the early favourite in a wide-open affair. He is coming off a solid second behind Sejardan in the Todman Stakes. Second in the betting is his stablemate Williamsburg who ran okay behind Rise of the Masses in the Pago Pago Stakes.

Miss Faberge rounds out the top three in the betting after a 4.5 length fourth in the Magic Night Stakes, where she had excuses.

Ran okay second-up. Drawn poorly. Can’t have.

2. Boyfriend (11)

Blinkers on, winkers off. Went close to Sejardan last start. Draw is okay. Should put in a good showing.

3. Williamsburg (6)

Went okay last start but probably prefers it dryer. Prefer others.

4. Earl of Devon (4)

First-up. Debut. Watch.

5. Mumbai Jewel (18)

Drawn poorly. Has had a long preparation with travel. Place chance.

6. Kote (12)

Finished off his last start well. Drawn poorly again. He will love 1400m. Had he drawn better I would say he could win. Place chance.

7. Standing Order (17)

Winkers on, visors off. Had excuses last start but will need to lift here.

8. Affogato Girl (7)

Has 1400m form so she ticks that box and has done it on the wet. The races she won haven’t been rated well. Could go close.

9. Bessmati (2)

Was okay over 1400m last start. Back in grade and there is an unknown over the wet. Place chance.

10. Moko (10)

Excuses last start but showed little prior. Others.

11. Miss Faberge (8)

Blinkers off. Will appreciate the step up in distance but she isn’t a fan of the wet. Place.

12.Yankee Hussel (15)

Prefer others.

13. Fun Sunday (14)

Blinkers on, Pre-race earmuffs on.  Outclassed.

14. Victorine (5)

Ran okay behind Affogato Girl over the 1400m last start. Needs to lift.

Can’t have.

16e. Matcha Latte (1)

Can’t have.

17e. Sleigh Queen (13)

Can’t have.
