The Everest 2023 Race Details

Race 7 at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday the 14th of October 2023.

The Everest is the world’s richest turf race in the world and is run at Royal Randwick racecourse. It is run over 1200 metres under standard weight for age conditions. The total prize money is $20,000,000 this year.

The Everest 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Cracking race. I Wish I Win will be waiting for the gaps to appear and is the clear horse to beat if that eventuates. Barrier 1 will either be a blessing or a curse. Private Eye goes in the mix and was very brave in last years edition. Overpass can set the tempo and is suited by barrier 2. In Secret looms around the large odds and can find the placings while Buenos Noches has trialled nicely recently but does need to find a length or two. I Wish I Win goes on top but Private Eye looms as a large contender and they look the quinella pick. No knock on Think About It who is a winner and knows where the post is but some query on its form lines.

Five runners had their last start in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes over 1200m at Randwick on 30th September, five in the Group 2 The Shorts over 1100m at Randwick on 16th September and two in the Group 1 Golden Rose over 1400m at Rosehill on 23rd September.

The Everest 2023 Runner by Runner

1. I Wish I Win (1)

Goes on top. Needs the gaps to appear at the right time but Overpass should be setting a decent clip which will likely make that eventuate. Can find clean air and explode. Hard to see him losing if that happens.

2. Private Eye (9)

Seems large odds. Sensational in last years edition and not too badly drawn with its pattern. Can be flashing home lately and without a doubt has the turn of foot to win this race.

3. Think About It (5)

Very hard to knock a picket fence but I have queries on the form lines. Knows where the post is but this is the absolute acid test. I have it marked +$10.

4. Mazu (11)

Finished 3rd in this race last year behind Giga Kick and Private Eye. Would have to lift on form and will require luck from out there.

5. Overpass (2)

Great chance to run a place. Suited by the draw and can set the tempo. The Amelia’s Jewel form is very strong and flies fresh. The best roughie in the race.

6. Buenos Noches (8)

Looked sharp in a recent trial but does need to find a few lengths to give this a shake. Not ruling out but does need to be at its absolute best to be winning this.

7. Hawaii Five Oh (10)

Going well but couldn’t have it in my numbers. Place chance at best.

8. Alcohol Free (7)

Can’t have.

9. In Secret (12)

Acid test in this. Has the class and ability but the ride will need to be perfect from 12. Not ruling out and does look up to this lot but not in my top 3.

10. Espiona (3)

She does a bit too much wrong. Leaning to others particularly at the $16.00 price.

11. Shinzo (6)

Looks a smoky. One poor run and we are getting a big price here. The form last prep was good and sets up beautifully from 6. Has claims.

12. Cylinder (4)

Hard to pot and maps really well. Can land one out one back and should take beating from there.

13e. Bella Nipotina (13)

Needed more fresh but should be strips fitter and gets a kind draw.

14e. Zapateo (14)

Can’t have.

15e. King Of Sparta (15)

Prefer others.

16e. Vilana (16)

This looks too tough.
