Caulfield Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 7 at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday the 14th October 2023.
The Might And Power/Caulfield Stakes formerly named the Yalumba Stakes is a Group 1 weight-for-age race over 2000 metres steeped in history. The race is held in October each year at Caulfield during the Spring Racing Carnival. The total prizemoney is $1,000,000 this year.

Caulfield Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Ten have accepted for the $1,000,000 Caulfield Stakes. Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott saddle up the favourite and second favourite. The established star Alligator Blood and the up and coming Just Fine who has won his last three starts. Next pick in the market is Duais who is one from one at the track and distance and was a big eye catcher in the Underwood Stakes last time out.
Caulfield Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Alligator Blood
Multiple Group 1 winner who won the Underwood Stakes here last start. He’s the best horse in the race but a query at a genuine run mile and a quarter. If you think he will run it out back him.
2. Vow And Declare
Thought his work through the line first up was very encouraging. Can sit closer here and is a rough each way chance at big odds.
3. Nonconformist
He was another who was good to the line in the Underwood and maps to be closer here third up. Has a great record this track and distance and was second in this race two years ago. He can run well at odds.
4. Alenquer
Lead and faded in the Underwood. Fitter for that.
5. Hezashocka
Did far too much work in the Naturalism and dropped right out as a result. Should get a more economical run here.
6. Just Fine
Import who is unbeaten since joining Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. Drops back to 2000m after winning The Metropolitan last start at 2400m. I think that suits him and I love the booking of Childs.
7. Forgot You
He’s been going well against easier company and looks set to peak fourth up.
8. Lindermann
Thought he copped a strange ride last start in the Underwood but was still a touch disappointing. Maps to do no work from the inside alley and does get the magic man in the saddle.
9. Duais
She was the big flashing light in the Underwood screaming up the fence into third. Love that Shinn goes on here. Strong each way claims.
10. Deny Knowledge
Unusually took a sit last start at the Valley but worked home well behind the Cox Plate favourite Amelia’s Jewel. Expect her to be back on pace here. 2000m suits. I give her a little chance at big odds.
