The King Charles III Stakes is a Group 1 race held at Randwick Racecourse and is run over 1600 metres. It is for horses three-years-old and upwards and is run under standard weight-for-age conditions. The total prize money is $5,000,000 this year.

King Charles III Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Mr Brightside is a 1600m star and will take plenty of beating in this. He looks the standout. Fangirl is getting hard to catch but is capable of a big run and can give this race a shake. Zaaki is mixing his form but has class and looks a top 3 chance against these. Gap to the rest with Kovalica a solid chance and Hope In Your Heart needs to bounce back off last start but has the quality to do so.
Seven of the runners had their last start in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap over 1600m at Randwick on 30th September, three in the 7 Stakes over 1600m at Randwick on 16th September and two are having their first start in Australia.

Ran 3rd in this race in 2021. Good win last start. Maps well and looks a place chance in this with Nash doing the steering.
2. Mr Brightside (8)
Best bet across the country over the weekend and hard to see him losing. 2/2 over this track and trip, 3/4 fourth up, 10/14 over the 1600. Ticks every single box.
3. Zaaki (7)
Place chance in this. Can land up on the speed and give a bold sight.
4. Huetor (12)
Usually takes a run to get going. Prefer others.
5. Light Infantry Man (6)
Market watch in this. Brings some handy UK form in but will need to be very good to be beating Mr Brightside.
6. My Oberon (3)
Can’t have.
7. Buckaroo (10)
Prefer others.
8. Zeyrek (13)
This looks too tough.
9. Nugget (9)
Prefer others.
10. Democracy Manifest (16)
Can’t have.
11. Golden Mile (5)
Going along well now and has improved drastically this prep. Decent place chance against this lot at handy odds.
12. Kovalica (15)
Hard to see it beating the favourite and given no favours with the draw but still a very classy competitor that looks primed to be in the finish.

Can’t have.
14. Fangirl (2)
She has the form on the board but can be a little tricky to catch. 3/3 with J-Mac on is a huge tick.
15. Atishu (11)
Can’t have.
16. Hope In Your Heart (14)
Hoped for more last run. Can run into a place in this and has the class to do so but needs to lift off the last start effort.
