How to pick a winner

Golden Mile 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Thirteen runners have accepted for the feature on the Bendigo card the $200,000 Listed Golden Mile.  Munhamek who has struck form deep into his campaign is favourite.  The Echuca cup winner Here To Shock is second pick in the betting.  Chris Wallers Quality Time is an early drifter while Just Folk was good first up and gets the advantage of meeting these on his home track.

Golden Mile 2023 Runner by Runner

1. Inspirational Girl

She has some proper group 1 form going back to last prep but I’m concerned about her.  Was a big drifter first up and I thought she was pretty plain.  Hard to recommend off that.

2. Just Folk

Finished second in the Seymour Cup this track and trip last prep which was a similar contest to what he faces here.  And I thought his run first up at Flemington after racing wide with out cover was good.  He will run well.

3. Earlswood

His last three runs have been really poor.  Looking elsewhere.

4. Riyazan

Really liked this geldings run two back in the Blamey.  Didn’t fire on soft ground in the Albury Cup.  If the track gets back into the good range I could entertain him as a blow out at big odds.

5. Munhamek

Nick Ryan galloper who is absolutely airborne.  Is very unlucky not to have won his last four.  Saved from last weeks Doncaster Prelude to run here.  Drawn well.  The one to beat.

6. Visinari

Talented gelding who was third in the Cranbourne Cup last prep.  He had the right run first up at Flemington and was only fair.  Happy to see him again.

7. Laure Me In

Does not appear to be going well enough.

8. D’aguilar

Finished last in the Echuca Cup first up (big drifter).  Has been backed to the jump outs since.  Big question mark on where he is at.

9. Here To Shock

Loved the win last start in the Echuca Cup.  Sat outside lead and booted clear to win impressively.  Just has to do it at 1600m now.

10. Another One

Won the National Sprint at Canberra last start.  In the mix.

11. Quality Time

Chris Waller trained runner who was very solid behind Munhamek first up at the Valley.  He can settle a lot closer with Linda Meech in the saddle.  Watch market.

12. Prince Of Helena

Was third in the Echuca Cup last start.  Lacks the class to be winning here.

13. Rambler Rebel

Looks the likely leader.  Rough place at best getting deep into the prep with a negative rider change.
