Asian Beau Stakes – 2022

There is a full field of 16 runners plus two emergencies for the $150,000 Asian Beau Stakes with 15 geldings and 3 mares, ranging in age from four to seven-years-old. Five runners had their last start in the Group 3 Eurythmic Stakes over 1400m at Ascot on 15 October, two in a Rating 72+ Handicap over 1400m at Ascot on 15 October, two in a Rating 78+ Handicap over 1400m at Ascot on 8 October and two in the Listed Hannans Handicap over 1400m at Kalgoorlie on 29 September, while the rest came via different races. Five runners ae resuming from a spell. Trainers Michael Granthan, Chris & Michael Gangemi, Neville Parnham and Daniel Morton all have two runners.

The early favourite is Alaskan God who won all 5 starts last campaign and resumes from a 29 week break.  Second favourite is Devoted who won all 3 races last campaign and resumed for 2.4 lengths 6th over 1400m at Ascot on 15 October. Third favourite is Trix Of The Trade who has 8 wins and 3 places from his 12 starts and resumed for a narrow win over 1400m at Ascot on 15 October. Last Of The Line finished 1.5 lengths 5th in the Eurythmic Stakes last outing, and Karli’s Karma has won both starts this campaign.  The other runners are currently 10 to 1 or longer.

1. Kaptain Kaos (12)

One of two runners for Michael Grantham. Resumes from an 18 week spell. Prefer others.

2. Last Of The Line (5)

Finished 1.5 lengths 5th in the Eurythmic Stakes last outing when resuming. Has won 3 from 3 second-up and is one of the key players.

3. Notorious One (2)

One of two runners for Chris & Michael Gangemi. Ran 11th in the Eurythmic. Looks tested.

4. Titan Blinders (14)

Followed a close 2nd in the Hannans Handicap with a close 2nd in the Eurythmic Stakes. He has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw and is a good place chance.

5. Platoon (9)

One of two runners for Neville Parnham. Finished 10th in the Eurythmic and might need another run before he shows his best.

6. Alaskan God (13)

One of two runners for Daniel Morton. He won all 5 starts last campaign and resumes from a 29 week break. My top pick in a tricky race.

7. Devoted (17)

Won all 3 races last campaign and resumed for 2.4 lengths 6th over 1400m at Ascot on 15 October. Should improve with a senior jockey back on.

8. Dom To Shoot (10)

First up after 30 weeks and will need the run.

9. Em Tee Aye (15)

Has had 7 starts this campaign for 2 wins and 5 places. Very consistent and it wouldn’t surprise to see him in the finish.

10. Excellent Dream (3)

Placed twice at Kalgoorlie before running 9th in the Eurythmic. Looks tested.

11. Let’s Galahvant (1)

Won 2 in a row at Belmont before a narrow win in the Hannans Handicap at Kalgoorlie. Having his first run at Ascot. Drawn the inside barrier and should make his presence felt.

12. Neufbosc (7)

First-up from a 29 week spell and doesn’t fire fresh.

13. Searchin’ Roc’s (16)

Won the Lised Belmont Oaksa at the end of last campaign. resumes after 17 weeks and comes to a new trainer. Won a Belmont trial and wouldn’t surprise to see her run well.

14. Startrade (8)

Ran a close 4th in the Hannans Handicap. Sneaky chance.

15. Treasured Star (6)

Has won 2 from 4 at the track. In the mix.

16. Trix Of The Trade (18)

He has 8 wins and 3 places from his 12 starts and resumed for a narrow win over 1400m at Ascot on 15 October. Has only missed the quinella once in 12 starts and can figure in the finish.

17e. Karli’s Karma (4)

She has won both starts this campaign. 1st emergency who could place if she gets a run.

18e. Rokanori (11)

Looks safely held.
