Rising Fast Stakes – 2022

There are 14 runners for the $200,000 Rising Fast Stakes with 8 geldings, 3 mares and 3 stallions, ranging in age from four to eight-years-old. Five runners had their last start in the Listed Caulfield Village Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield on 8 October, and two in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes over 1200m at Flemington on 1 October. The rest all came through different races and only one runner is resuming from a spell here.

The early favourite is Generation who finished 1.5 length 4th in the Group 1 Moir Stakes then disappointed when 4 lengths 3rd in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint last outing.  Second favourite is Triple Missile who resumed for 1.8 lengths 4th in the Caulfield Village Stakes and normally goes very well second-up. Third favourite is Gravina who was a length winner of the Caulfield Village Stakes and was strong to the line. General Beau resumed for 2.5 lengths 4th in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes and is generally strong second-up. The Astrologist is on a seven day back-up after 6th in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes, while Jamaea was 1.9 lengths in the Group 2 Golden Pendant last outing.  The other runners are currently $14 or longer.

On a seven day back-up after 6th in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes. Down in grade. Solid claims.

2. Beau Rossa (5)

The only runner resuming from a spell in this race. Placed in two recent trials and can run well fresh.

3. Generation (3)

Finished 1.5 length 4th in the Group 1 Moir Stakes then disappointed when 4 lengths 3rd in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint last outing. Gets his chance here.

4. Sirius Suspect (4)

Won the G3 Aurie’s Star at this track and distance in August and has good form on soft tracks. Not the worst.

5. General Beau (13)

Resumed for 2.5 lengths 4th in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes and is generally strong second-up. In the mix.

6. Gravina (8)

This Godolphin runner gets international rider William  Buick. He was a length winner of the Caulfield Village Stakes and was strong to the line. One of the key chances.

7. Jamaea (11)

Was 1.9 lengths 8th in the Group 2 Golden Pendant last outing. Goes well at this distance and could place.

8. Triple Missile (12)

Resumed for 1.8 lengths 4th in the Caulfield Village Stakes and normally goes very well second-up. One of the main chances.

Gets blinkers for the first time. Looking elsewhere.
