Four Pillars – 2022

Track: Good-Soft   Weather: Mostly Sunny

Twenty-four runners (four of which are emergencies) have accepted for the $500,000 Four Pillars and there have been no early scratchings.

Kayobi ($4.40) is the early favourite for this race following his brilliant win at Kembla Grange first up. He will be aiming to win his fourth race in a row since heading to the Sam Kavanagh stable.

Mahagoni ($6.50) is on the quick backup following his nice win last weekend in a tough grade of race. He will have to carry 7.5kg more than last weekend but he is in some nice form.

Adios Steve ($10.00) is going for three wins on the trot following some nice wins in a midway and a benchmark 64 at Hawkesbury.

1. Mahagoni (8)

On the quick backup from a win in a much harder race. Has to carry 64kg which is a task but he is in tremendous form.

2. Casino Mondial (15)

Hasn’t been running up to standard as of late and will have to carry a big weight from a poor draw. Prefer others.

3. Adios Steve (7)

Going for three in a row. He is coming off a nice win in a midway at this track. He will appreciate the 1500m and he has drawn nicely. Big chance.

4. McGeehan (23)

Going for three in a row and back-to-back wins this preparation. He won well at Newcastle over this distance last time out, and he will carry 1.5kg less thanks to the claim of Ellen Hennessy. Drawn horribly though, so place chance at best.

5. Awesome Lad (9)

He has been running consistently but he hasn’t won since 2020. Hard to have.

6. The Guru (1)

Hard to have on recent form.

7. Oakfield Arrow (14)

Hard to have on recent form.

8. Sebrenco (2)

Going for back-to-back wins after winning by 1.6 lengths at Kembla Grange. She finished around two lengths off Arbitration two runs ago, which is good enough for this.

9. Excelladus (18)

Won first up at Newcastle after racing four wide and without cover. Drawn horribly and will need a lot of luck.

10. Kayobi (10)

Going for four wins in a row following a tremendous 1.7 length win at Kembla Grange. He will carry the same weight and has drawn nicely, so with the right run, he should get his chance. He looks to have some talent.

11. Poseidon Ruler (4)

Hard to have on recent form.

12. Danish Prince (11)

First up after 91 days. He has never won first up but he did go close last preparation. His second up second behind Pizarro is good enough to win this. Could be ready to go.

13. Buba (20)

Fitness is no issue here and she has performed well in this grade and better in the past though it is a tough draw and isn’t well-weighted.

14. Prince Aurelius (24)

Went close last start at Kembla Grange a week ago. Drawn the car park here and will need a lot of luck.

15. Diva Bella (19)

Won well at Hawkesbury last time out but this looks too tough.

16. Brazen Song (21)

Hard to have on recent form.

17. Burning Need (12)

Has been running consistently in this preparation but she would need to find a new level.

18. Sally Pops (5)

Hard to have on recent form.

19. Stray (6)

Hard to have on recent form.

20. Wealthy Investor (22)

Hard to have on recent form.

21e. Lemaire (3)

Could run a bold race if he gets a run.

22e. Scorched Land (17)

Would love him to get a run but the draw is poor.

23e. Tympanist (13)

Can’t have him here.

24e. Mediaro (16)

Can’t have him here.
