Track: Fine Weather: Good

With the early scratchings of Argentia, Bless Her and Belsielle, 10 mares remain for the $200,000 Wenona Girl Quality. There are three 4YOS, four 5YOs, two 6YOs and a 7YO. Three of the runners had their last start in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes over 1200m at Randwick on 11 February while the rest all came through different races. Five runners are first-up, three are second-up and the other two have had 3 starts each this campaign. Trainer John O’Shea has 2 runners.

The early favourite is Sky Command who hasn’t raced since wining the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap in December. Second favourite is Po Kare Kare who won the Triscay by over a length. Third favourite is Barossa Rosa who won 2 in a row before 4th in the $1 million Magic Millions F&M race at the Gold Coast.

Jump The Broom finished 2nd in the Triscay when first-up. Promise of Success is a Group 2 winner and resumes from a 15 week break. Written Beauty was 7th in the Triscay and has a good second-up record, while Katalin resumed for 5.5 lengths 7th in the Groop 2 Millie Fox Stakes. All other runners are currently $16 or longer.

This 7YO is the oldest runner this year. She is a Group 2 winner and resumes from a 15 week break. Hasn’t placed in 2 recent trials. Not keen.

2. Sky Command (7)

Hasn’t raced since wining the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap in December but won a Wyong trial by nearly 3 lengths. Strong chance.

3. Argentia (2)  – SCRATCHED

4. Barossa Rosa (8)

Won 2 in a row at Randwick then Doomben before 4th in the $1 million Magic Millions F&M race at the Gold Coast. Hasn’t raced since 19 January but should go well.

5. Tycoon Evie (6)

First up after 17 weeks and has never won first-up. Interesting that Zac Purton takes the ride.

6. Bless Her (12)  – SCRATCHED

7. Bring The Ransom (9)

Resumes from a 36 week spell and has won 3 of 7 first-up. Gets blinkers on for the first time. In the mix.

8. Written Beauty (11)

Was 7th in the Triscay and has a good second-up record. One of the chances.

9. Po Kare Kare (10)

Won the Triscay by over a length. She has won 4 of her 9 starts and is a key player here.

10. Jump The Broom (13)

Finished 2nd in the Triscay when first-up and meets the winner 1 kg better at the weights. Capable of winning this.

11. Katalin (5)

Resumed for 5.5 lengths 7th in the Groop 2 Millie Fox Stakes. Prefer others.

12. Belsielle (4)  – SCRATCHED

13. Jal Lei (3)

Resumes after 18 weeks and can go well first-up.
