Fireball Stakes – 2023

Economics proved too difficult to load last start and was scratched. This looks a suitable race for it but it will need to overcome the wide barrier. Dashing Legend continues to win and should get its chance in this field. Troach wants some rain to come but is well placed in this company while Zoukerino and Willinga Beast both have claims here, the latter with Dylan Gibbons doing the steering and is a nice each way price.

1. Cannonball (2)

Should land into a nice spot from the draw and is proven fresh. The very in form Brett Prebble does the steering. Place chance.

2. Kote (9)

Needs to lift on current form this prep but gets its chance here and Craig Williams is an eye catching booking. This race is within reach.

3. Economics (11)

Proved difficult to load last start and was scratched at the gates. Economics has the wide draw to overcome but brings in the A-one form and looks very well placed against this lot. J-Mac does the steering and this is a suitable target for it.

4. Zoukerino (13)

Blinkers may do the trick for Zouekerino in this and it can run a race fresh. Purton is across from HK and does the steering. The $11.00 looks about the right price.

5. Troach (1)

Convinced Troach races better on ground with give in it and away from Randwick. That being said with barrier 1 and Tim Clark there is no reason why it can’t run well in this. Just has to be some query on good footing.

6. Another Cognac (7)

Prefer others.

7. Felix Majestic (6)

Has shown good upside to date and good to see Kathy O’hara riding in the features. Maps Kindly and a recent trial was a tidy piece of work. Can win.

8. Jacenza (10)

Prefer others.

9. Nipotino (4)

This looks too tricky.

10. Lady Laguna (5)

Query on its form as it made the most of wet tracks over the winter. Lady Laguna does have class though and she enjoys Randwick. Maps to settle handy from the draw and can give this a shake.

11. Willinga Beast (8)

Hard to pot the efforts of Willinga Beast to date and Dylan Gibbons is an excellent booking. Weighted well in this field and just needs luck from the draw to be closing on these late.

12. Dashing Legend (12)

Keeps winning and can measure up to this lot but does need to overcome the wide draw. Hasn’t missed the placings from 3 goes over this trip and hasn’t missed the quinella from 2 goes second up. Large claims.

13. Midnight In Tokyo (3)

Maps well from the front and the form around True Crime reads fine for this race. Clipperton has won aboard and this is a suitable target fresh. Can win.
