2022 Sapphire Stakes Race Details
Race 10 at Randwick on Saturday 9 April 2022.
The Sapphire Stakes is a Group 2 1200 metre set weights plus penalties race for the fillies and mare that are three years old or upwards that is run by the Australian Turf Club in April. It is normally run at Randwick during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Sapphire Stakes 2022 Preview
Track: Heavy Weather: Showers.
Fifteen runners have accepted for the $300,000 Group 2 Sapphire Stakes and there have been no early scratchings. The Gary Portelli stable and Team Hawkes are saddling up two runners each in the event whilst the other stables only have one entry each.
Belluci Babe is on the quick backup after a brilliant fourth placing behind Nature Strip in the TJ Smith Stakes. Bella Nipotina holds the second line of betting and she is coming off an eighth in the Galaxy behind Shelby Sixtysix, where she was held up nearing the finish.
Emanate holds the third line of betting coming off a massive 4.6 length win in the Birthday Card Stakes.
Sapphire Stakes Runner by Runner
1. Four Moves Ahead (9)
Can’t have her based on her preparation thus far.
2. Bella Nipotina (8)
Blocked at a key stage last start. Drawn better and gets James McDonald on. Chance.
3. Minhaaj (11)
Poor at only start this preparation and yet to face a heavy surface. Others.
4. Belluci Babe (4)
Quick backup. Key chance based on her run last weekend.
5. Wandabaa (3)
Loves the ground and is a solid place chance.
6. Fituese (2)
Goes well fresh but would want it firmer.
7. Marboosha (14)
Gets a nice swing on Emanate. Was a solid second behind her last start. Can run another big race.
8. Emanate (7)
Big win last start. This is much harder but she has to be respected.
9. Tricky Gal (15)
Good behind Belluci Babe last start. Blinkers go on the first time. Drawn poorly. Expect an improved run.
10. Ruby Tuesday (10)
Prefer others.
11. Jump The Broom (12)
Looking to remain undefeated. Handles the going and Sydney way. Up majorly in grade. Maybe.
12. Majestic Shot (5)
Looks outclassed.
13. Nicci’s Fling (13)
Prefer others.
