2022 South Pacific Classic Race Details
Race 2 at Randwick on Saturday 9 April 2022.
The South Pacific Classic is a Listed 1400 metre quality race for the three-year-olds that is run by the Australian Turf Club in April. It is normally run at Randwick during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

South Pacific Classic 2022 Preview
Track: Heavy Weather: Showers.
Seventeen runners have accepted for the $150,000 Listed South Pacific Classic with one of those being emergencies and there have been no early scratchings. The Chris Waller stable is all saddling up three runners, James Cummings stable and John O’Shea’s stable are saddling up two horses each in the event whilst the other stables only have one entry each.
Loch Eagle has opened a clear favourite for this event on the back of a benchmark 72 win over a horse that won last weekend in Straight Arron. Green Belt is on the next line of betting and is looking to remain undefeated at start number three. He is looking to bring Victorian form north first-up after his benchmark 64 win in January.
Vilana rounds out the top three in the betting after a decent win in benchmark 72 company.

1. Zethus (8)
Blinkers first time. Dropping back in grade slightly. Can’t take him on recent form.
2. Flying Crazy (4)
Didn’t handle the conditions last week, so this week will be no different.
3. Military Expert (12)
Prefer others.
4. Bend The Knee (5)
Ran okay behind Mazu last start. Prefer others.
5. Shihonka (15)
Ran fourth behind Mazu. 1400m suits and handles conditions. Can run a cheeky race.
6. Cape Breton (6)
Can’t have.
7. Cotehele (2)
Ran well first-up but this is much harder.
8. Minsk Moment (3)
Needs to improve.
9. Loch Eagle (7)
Has the form after defeating Straight Arron. Handles the ground and distance. Big step up in grade but is suited.
10. Tonneofgrit (17)
Will appreciate the 1400m on this sort of ground. Drawn wide but could still run a race.
11. Green Belt (10)
First-up. Can’t have.
12. Vilana (11)
Handles the ground and looks as though 1400m will suit. Big step up in grade like most of these but looks to handle it.
13. Shadow Devil (13)
Can’t have.
14. All Machiavellian (16)
Outclassed.

Can’t have.
