2022 Sydney Cup Race Details
Race 7 at Randwick on Saturday 9 April 2022.
The Sydney Cup is a Group 1 3200 metre handicap race for the three-year-olds and upwards that is run by the Australian Turf Club in April. It is normally run at Randwick during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Sydney Cup Stakes 2022 Preview
Track: Heavy Weather: Showers.
Nineteen runners have accepted for the $2,000,000 Group 1 Sydney Cup and there have been no early scratchings. The Chris Waller stable is saddling up five runners, Team Hawkes and Joe Pride are saddling up two runners each whilst the other stables only have one entry each.
Stockman is the early favourite in the betting on the back of his second placing behind Duais in the Tancred Stakes. Crystal Pegasus is the next one in the betting and brings the Victorian form up to Sydney on the back of four straight wins.
Chalk Stream rounds out the top 3 in the betting. He was scratched from last weekend and saved for this race which may end up proving to be a wise move by the Waller stable.
Sydney Cup Runner by Runner
1. The Chosen One (5)
Third behind Duais in the Tancred Stakes. Handles the conditions and the distance. Could be value.
2. Daqiansweet Junior (7)
Adelaide Cup winner. The previous form suggests he won’t handle the going.
3. Knights Order (1)
Brilliant last start after running silly sectionals. Unlikely to reproduce.
4. Stockman (13)
Yet to run beyond 2400m but his runs suggest he can. Handles the wet. Won’t be far away.
5. Crystal Pegasus (18)
Has been putting them away this preparation. Yet to go over 2600m and hasn’t faced ground like this. Take on trust.
6. Angel of Truth (3)
Can’t Have.
7. Sheraz (6)
Wanted to see more last start. 3200m is no issue and neither is the ground. Craig Williams booking signals a big race.
8. No Compromise (10)
Yet to run beyond 2400m. Won well last start and will need to reproduce to be a chance of winning.
9. Luncies (14)
Ran well last weekend over 2600m in the heavy. Dryer ground would have made him the favourite. Likely to run a big race.
10. Future Score (16)
Handles the distance but there is a slight query over the ground in this quality.
11. Surefire (12)
Blinkers First Time. Run amazingly in the wet since coming to Australia but is yet to go beyond 2400m. Recent form suggests he goes close.
12. Tigertiger (2)
Can’t have.
13. Chalk Stream (9)
Been saved for this. Off-side bubble cheeker on. Yet to run 3200m but has run 2800m. Handles the ground. Ready for this.
14. Alakahan (4)
Can’t have.
