2022 Provincial-Midway Championships Final Race Details

The Provincial-Midway Championships Final is a 1400 metre set weights race for the Provincial-Midway qualifiers that is run by the Australian Turf Club in April. It is normally run at Randwick during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Eighteen runners have accepted for the $487,500 Provincial-Midway Championships Final with two of those being emergencies and there have been no early scratchings. The Kris Lees stable has qualified seven runners for the race, Tracey Bartley has qualified two runners for the race whilst the other stables only have one entry each.
Never Talk is the early favourite for the final and she is coming off a dominant win in her qualifier at Newcastle. Great News is on the second line of betting after finishing second in her qualifier at Gosford.
Rustic Steel rounds out the top three in betting. He won his qualifier dominantly two runs back before running a big race at Newcastle in a benchmark 88.

Deserved favourite. Won her qualifier in style. Drawn the inside which isn’t ideal but she should get her chance.

Come from well back to win at Gosford which isn’t easy to do. Drawn wide but that won’t be too bad on the wet. Query over 1400m.
4. Kiss Sum (8)
Can’t have.
5. Travest (15)
Second in qualifier and probably won’t handle the going against these.
6. Astero (3)
Can’t have.
7. Poseidon Ruler (13)
Looks outclassed.
8. French Marine (10)
Can’t have.
9. Great News (12)
Flew from the back at Gosford on heavy going to just miss which is hard to do. 1400m suits and she has had for in Group 3 mares company. Chance.

Can run a cheeky race from the draw.
11. Mayrose (11)
Will aim to sit closer and run a cheeky race.
12. Grand Rumore (6)
Should have won last start. Drawn well. Will sit closer from the draw. Her best can win.
