2022 Australian Oaks Race Details
Race 6 at Randwick on Saturday 9 April 2022.
The Australian Oaks is a Group 1 2400 metre set weights race for the three-year-old fillies that is run by the Australian Turf Club in April. It is normally run at Randwick during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Australian Oaks Stakes 2022 Preview
Track: Heavy Weather: Showers.
Eighteen runners have accepted for the $1,000,000 Group 1 Australian Oaks and there have been no early scratchings. The Kris Lees stable, John Sargent stable, and the Maher/Eustace stable are all saddling up two runners each in the event whilst the other stables only have one entry each.
Hinged and Honeycreeper have opened the joint favourites early in the betting and are both coming from the typical lead-up races for this event. Hinged was a very good second placing behind Fangirl in the Vinery Stud Stakes whereas Honeycreeper was dominant last weekend in the Adrian Knox Stakes.
Gypsy Goddess is on the third line of betting and is coming out of the same race as Hinged but she finished four and a half lengths behind her in third.
Australian Oaks Runner by Runner
1. Hinged (10)
Ran boldly in the Vinery Stud Stakes. Never been beyond 1850m so that’s a query but handles the going. Take on trust.
2. Gypsy Goddess (11)
Looks to appreciate the extra distance but the ground is a query.
3. Biscayne Bay (5)
Blinkers on again. Handles the distance but unknown on the ground. Stable know how to prepare a stayer, so back on trust.
4. Honeycreeper (15)
One to beat on her run last start. Extra distance looks to suit and she handles the ground.
5. Le Villi (14)
Should have run top 3 in the NZ Oaks. Yet to face the ground but all reports are she should do okay in it. Huge odds.
6. El Patroness (2)
Will need to improve.
7. Hope In Your Heart (17)
Needs to improve but could be a knockout hope.
8. Gin Martini (6)
This has been her goal this preparation but she hasn’t lived up to expectations.
9. Pink Ivory (9)
Well-bred, unknown on heavy. Could run a bit race but would need to improve.
10. Charity Spirit (12)
Could be a sneaky chance at big odds.
11. Hardly Sweet (4)
Can’t have.
12. Lekvarte (13)
Can’t have.
13. Secret Glamour (3)
Can’t have.
14. Commando Drift (7)
Handles ground and distance but outclassed.
15. Velvet Lady (18)
Outclassed.
16. Mauricently (1)
Could run a big race at odds.
17. Chance Reward (16)
Can’t have.
18. Youthful (8)
Can’t have.
