2022 Redoute’s Choice Stakes Race Details
Race 4 at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday 9th April 2022.
The 2022 Redoute’s Choice Stakes is held at the Caulfield Racecourse and is run over 1100 metres. It is a Listed stakes race for the 2-year-old thoroughbreds run at set weights and penalties. The total prize money is $160,000.

2022 Redoute’s Choice Stakes Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
A race over 1100 metres that shapes up to be one you can’t miss. Plenty of talent in this bunch including Cannonball from the Freedman stable who was very impressive first-up from a break winning at a short quote. Port Albert is representing the Nick Ryan stable and they are absolutely firing at the moment. Not many missed the debut of Yowie and the form was franked last weekend so it deserves to be favourite here.
2022 Redoute’s Choice Stakes Runner by Runner
1. Cannonball (6)
Hard to knock and probably the one that is over the odds. It was only a maiden at Geelong on a mid-day first up but the win was with ease and it should be on the speed giving a sight. Big danger to the favourite.
2. Alcedo (3)
Hard to get a gauge on the jumpout strength so I would want to see a market push first.
3. Eye Of The Eagle (1)
Solid trial and good draw so it looks set for a nice debut. Monitor market moves.
4. Port Albert (9)
Hard to knock how in form the stable has been. Does need luck from the draw but I liked the jumpout despite doing a few things wrong. Can run well in this.
5. Sunzou (7)
Jumped out with some handy types so I am wary of Sunzou and the market has kept it very safe. Danger.
6. Think I’m Divine (4)
Can’t have.
7. Wee Nessy (10)
Solid first up run and has scope for improvement. This is a winnable race and the price looks about right for Wee Nessy. Has the right form and profile for this.
8. Yowie (8)
Gee, I was impressed with the first-up win of Yowie. Sat wide, trucked to the line, and put them away with ease. We saw the horse it beat into 3rd frank the form last weekend and despite the slightly awkward gate, I am very keen on it. $3.50 looks overs and provided the parade is okay, I expect it to start shorter. Very hard to beat and clearly on top for me.
9. Prairie Flower (2)
Nice win last start but I am a little questionable about the form. Not completely out of this but does need luck from the gate.
10. Easterley (5)
Monitor the market but jump out was solid and has to be some hope off that.
11. Impact A Lot (11)
Can’t have.
