The early favourite is Alsephina who ran 2nd in  the Asian Beau Stakes last start behind a 100 to 1 winner. Second favourite is Magnificent Andy who has won 2 of his 4 starts this campaign. Third favourite is Black Fantasy who resumed for 4th in the Asian Beau after winning 3 in a row at the end of last campaign. 2023 R J Peters Stakes Runner by Runner

1. Alsephina (4)

She ran 2nd in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes over 1400m at Ascot on 4th November last start behind a 100 to 1 winner on a day where leaders were winning. She is a quality mare with 9 wins and 3 places from her 12 starts. Strong chance.

2. Ginger Baker (6)

He has 5 wins from 11 races this campaign. He was a 1.7 length winner of the Tabtouch Stakes over 1600m at Belmont on 23 September, then had a 5 week freshen before 2 lengths 4th in the Listed Northam Cup over 1600m at Northam on 29th October. Looks well suited here and won’t be far away in the run. Place chance.

3. Playing Marika (9)

This 8YO mare is the oldest runner in the race this year and is one of 2 runners sired by Playing God (the other is Mojo Rhythm). Has finished midfield in both runs so far this preparation. On a 7 day back-up after 2.5 lengths 8th in the Listed Luckygray Stakes over 1800m last Saturday. Looking to others.

4. Let’s Galahvant (10)

One of 2 runners for trainers Daniel & Ben Pearce (the other is Black Fantasy). Won the Listed Northam Cup over 1600m last start and Chris Parnham stays on him. Could place.

5. Weaponson (8)

Unplaced in all 4 runs this time in. Prefer others.

6. Magnificent Andy (2)

He has won 2 of his 4 starts this campaign and was tough winner of the Listed Hannans Handicap over 1400m at Kalgoorlie on 4th October before dropping back to 1200m at Ascot on 28th October where he had 60kg to carry and finished strongly from way back to run 4th. Should go well at this distance and is one of the main chances.

7. Black Fantasy (1)

This 5YO hadn’t raced for 66 weeks (since July 2022) and resumed for 4th in the Asian Beau after winning 3 in a row at the end of last campaign. He’s drawn the inside barrier and can improve on his first-up run. Chance.

8. Admiration Express (3)

Only beat one runner home in the Asian Beau but is much better than that, as it is only the 2nd time in 9 starts that he hasn’t made the trifecta. Expecting a big improvement.

9. Billy Ray (5)

After 2 fairly ordinary runs he was a 1.8 length winner over 1600m at ascot on 28th October at $41. Capable of making his presence felt.

10. Mojo Rhythm (7)

Flew home from the back of the 14 horse field to finish less than a length from the winner over 1400m at Ascot on 28th October. In the mix.
