Members’ Handicap 2023 Race Details

Race 4 at Doomben Racecourse on Saturday the 13th of May 2023.

The Members’ Handicap is a Listed race held at Doomben Racecourse and is run over 1600 metres. It is run under quality handicap conditions. The total prize money is $160,000 this year.

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Most of these are hard to trust. Sunshine Rising is overdue for a win and gets its chance here. Brutality is impossible to catch but will be launching on these late. The best version of Alcyone would be very hard to beat in a race like this while local raider Master Jamie will be sure to give a sight up on speed for backers.

Members’ Handicap 2023 Runner by Runner

1. Sunshine Rising (3)

Overdue for a win in OZ. Gets the likeable draw, good map and Parr steering. May not get a better chance than this.

2. Seat Of Power (9)

Usually improves with a run or two under the belt.

3. Bigboyroy (15)

Ran 3rd in this race last year. Can show up fresh and has an appealing on pace running style. Chance in a winnable race.

4. Brutality (2)

Gets back and runs on. Very hard to beat when things fall into place for it but next to impossible to catch.

5. Master Jamie (12)

Country raider that knows where the finishing post is and is well weighted in this field. He will plonk on the speed and give his all.

6. Wapiti (4)

Needs to lift this prep.

7. Character (1)

Likely to want further than this.

8. Irish Playboy (6)

Ticking along well and finds the right kind of race here with a good draw and map. Definite chance at handy odds.

9. Hasabro (17)

Can’t have.

10. Stardome (16)

Prefer others.

11. Alcyone (7)

Has been mixing form of late but quality galloper when on song. This race is well within reach.

12. Jetty (11)

Can’t have.

13. Santero (8)

Honest competitor who may lack the form that some of these bring but does have less convictions than a lot of these and also brings in winning form, albeit 2 starts back.

14. Arctic Thunder (13)

Prefer others.

15. Head Of State (14)

Has found his groove again and is capable of taking this out with a pinch of luck from the wide draw.
