Chairman’s Handicap 2023 Race Details

Race 6 at Doomben Racecourse on Saturday the 13th of May 2023.

The JRA Chairman’s Handicap is a Group 3 race held at Doomben Racecourse and is run over 2000 metres. It is run under quality handicap conditions and is for horses aged three-years-old and older. The total prize money is $200,000 this year.

JRA Chairman’s Handicap 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

The stayers battle it out over 2000. The best version of Yonkers would give this a shake and J-Mac goes aboard. Cepheus didn’t have much luck last start and should relish this trip. Kalapour is hard to knock and will just need a pinch of luck from the barrier while this is the time of prep where London Banker can bob up at odds. The market should prove crucial in this race late.

2. Yonkers (8)

Coming off a bleed ban. Haven’t seen his best in a while but he is effective fresh and J-Mac on is a statement. Weary.

3. Cepheus (6)

Should enjoy this trip and has less convictions than some of these. Maps well and expect an aggressive ride from Nash.

4. Nerve Not Verve (15)

Hard to catch but tough on pacer that will keep these honest and is rock hard fit. Chance.

5. London Banker (12)

Form doesn’t read much but usually starts to hit his straps this time in his prep. Keep safe and respect any market moves.

6. Warning (10)

Needs a lot to go right to win races but is 1/1 on this track and suited off the heavy. Wouldn’t shock me at all.

7. Wild Chap (5)

Want’s it to pour down with rain.

8. Kalapour (13)

Good effort last start and this doesn’t look any harder. Top 2 chance with Tim Clark doing the steering.

9. Otyrar (9)

Loves racing here and demands respect from the Waller yard. Well weighted against this lot and should prove hard to beat.

10. Dune Forty Five (2)

Can’t have.

11. Red Wave (3)

Prefer in something a little easier.

12. Yaphet (1)

Brings in some handy VIC form and does no work from the draw. Interesting jockey booking and this race is within reach.

13. Secret Glamour (7)

Mixes form but best efforts are well up to these and Craig Williams in the saddle doesn’t hurt.

14. Stuck With You (4)

Suited by the drop in weight, map and draw. Racing well enough to take this out.

15. Southern Stock (14)

Harder to catch than a 6 from Brian Lara. Can’t have.
