Race 7 at Scone Racecourse on Saturday the 13th of May 2023.

The Denise’s Joy Stakes is a Listed race held at Scone Racecourse and is run over 1100 metres. It is run under quality handicap conditions and is for fillies aged three-years-old. The total prize money is $160,000 this year.

Denise’s Joy Stakes 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Intriguing affair with a different mix of form lines. Opal Ridge will have to overcome a tricky barrier but has been around the mark this prep in some handy races. Once Again My Girl has been nothing but exciting so far and can measure up to this stakes race. Portray has the form on the board and should land on the speed and prove hard to get past. Red Card has a tricky draw but can’t be dismissed while Ojai and Penthouse both have claims in what is a wide open affair.

Going a long well and maps better than most of its rivals. $8.50 is a nice price.

2. Red Card (18)

Has the right form to give this race a shake but the tricky barrier is against. Will need to get across from the barrier and if it can it’ll be very hard to hold out.

3. Plymstock (4)

Sound last run but much harder here. Needs to lift to feature.

4. Tsarina Sophia (3)

Prefer others.

5. Tragara (12)

Prefer others.

6. Eagle Nest (20) – SCRATCHED

7.Syrian Star (17)

Can’t have.

8.Chilada (8)

Good debut win but much harder here. Prefer others.

9. Party Doll (14)

Can’t have.

10. Ojai (19)

Well backed in early markets and has strong form for this race. Gibbo does the steering from the wide draw and is weighted nicely.

11. Penthouse (9)

Penthouse was excellent fresh with a dominant win. Strikes a much harder race here but can measure up.

12. Ithadtobezou (11)

Didn’t handle the heavy last run but can bounce back in this and gets the right race. Good chance.

13. Moonlight Grace (7)

Consistent galloper that can give a good sight in this field. Chance and a nice place chance.

14. Luna Rocks (1)

Needs to find form again.

15. Smiling Prophet (15)

Not hopeless last start and should be hard to hold out here. Good return fresh despite doing a bit wrong. Hard to beat here.

16. Once Again My Girl (5)

Flying and has done some very good things to date. This race is within reach but it’ll have to lift to take this out. Gets the right draw.

17. Quilting (10)

Can’t have.

18. Written In Code (6)

Good debut win and can measure up in this grade. Gets the gun run from barrier 6.

19. Dolly Jayne (16)

Can’t have.

20. Opal Ridge (13)

Has the right form for this despite the wide draw. Nommed elsewhere so might not run here. Chance if it does.
