Auraria Stakes – 2024

Following the early scratchings of Coco Sun and Capulet, there are 14 fillies for the Sportsbet Auraria Stakes. Six of the runners had their last start in the Listed Clare Lindop Stakes over 1600m at Morphettvlle on 23rd March (won by Quickster) and two in the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley on 23rd March (won by Vibrant Sun), while the rest came via different races.

Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman have two of the top three runners in the early betting market. The early favourite is Mollynickers who hasn’t been as good this preparation as she was in the Spring. Second favourite is Vivy Air who ran 3rd in the Alexandra last start. Third favourite is Quickster who went from a maiden win at Sandown Hillside to a 1.5 length win in the Clare Lindop, and is chasing a hat-trick here. Wings Of Song hasn’t raced since 25th February but comes off 5 wins in a row,while The Autumn Belle was 2nd in the Clare Lindop and has 2 wins and 4 places from her 6 starts. All other runners are currently $20 or longer.

Went from a maiden win at Sandown Hillside to a 1.5 length win in the  Listed Clare Lindop Stakes over 1600m at Morphettvlle on 23rd March, and is chasing a hat-trick here. Strong chance.

4. Mollynickers (12)

Hasn’t been as good this preparation as she was in the Spring, but we know she has talent. Don’t dismiss.

5. Vivy Air (4)

Ran 3rd in the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley on 23rd March (won by Vibrant Sun) last start. In the mix.

6. Justaboom (1)

Made up some ground late for 4th in the Clare Lindop. Not the worst.

7. The Autumn Belle (10)

Was 2nd in the Clare Lindop and has 2 wins and 4 places from her 6 starts. Chance.

8. Capulet (15)  – scratched

9. Sentimental Flame (5)

Ran 5th in the Clare Lindop This looks too hard.

10. Diamonds Choice (9)

7th in the Clare Lindop. Prefer others.

11. Bon Mistress (13)

This looks too hard.

12. Madison Kate (3)

Finished 3rd in the Clare Lindop. Rough place chance.

13. Cherokee Miss (8)

Not keen.

14. Harvest Moon (6)

No.

15. Seeking Stardom (16)

Won by 6.5 lengths over 1800m at Murray Bridge to break her maiden on 3rd April. Could surprise.

16. Judge Jenni (2)

Still a maiden. Not here.
