TJ Smith Stakes 2024 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Imperatriz is a star and will take beating yet again in what is a suitable race. I Wish I Win is a major player and has a booming turn of foot. Finds the right race here to be going close. Sunshine In Paris will need a little luck from the draw but goes in the mix. Bella Nipotina has claims despite the tricky barrier. Magic Time also has plenty of upside and is in the mix against these.

1. I Wish I Win (4)
Won this race last year and should be getting every chance from barrier 4. Is all class and looks hard to beat resuming. Fitness in the heavy may be the only query on its chances.
2. Private Eye (14)
Hasn’t had luck to date this prep. Suited by the track and conditions. Barrier 14 should be okay by this time of day.
3. Mazu (12)
Was sound when resuming and boasts a record of 4/6 on heavy. Will need luck from barrier 12 but Tim Clark is an ideal booking and this race is a suitable target.
4. Coal Crusher (10)
Can’t have.
5. Aft Cabin (8)
Happy to avoid.
6. Buenos Noches (15)
Can’t have.
7. Johnny Rocker (3)
Enormous last run when getting close to Imperatriz. Goes in the mix off that and looks a big price in this.
8. Imperatriz (6)
Star that continues to win and finds ways to win. Didn’t have all the favours last start but sustained a wide run and lasted to the line. Should be going close in this.
9. Bella Nipotina (11)
She is as honest as the day is long and should be around the mark. Barrier 11 might make things a little tricky.
10. Espiona (13)
Classy on her day but she will need to be at her very best to be taking this out.
11. Sunshine In Paris (9)
Superb return run in The Galaxy when narrowly missing out on the win. Maps a bit sticky from barrier 9 but goes in the mix here and is well placed against this lot.
12. Cylinder (7)
Can’t have.
13. Magic Time (1)
Prefer others.
14. Chain Of Lightning (2)
Good win in open company last start. Maps well from barrier 2 but will need to go to another level to take this out.
15. Willinga Beast (5)
Can’t have.
