The Vanity 2023 Race Details
Race 2 at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 18th February 2023.
The Vanity is a Group 3 1400 metre set weights plus penalties race for three-year-old fillies run by the Victorian Racing Club in February. It is held at Caulfield on Lightning Stakes day. This year it has prizemoney of $200,000.

The Vanity 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Good race this with a number of different form lines to consider. See You In Heaven has opened favourite ahead of the unbeaten Moody trained filly Nunthorpe. Climbing Star and Royal Merchant come via the Manfred at Sandown, while Papillon Club and Queen Air were very impressive winning their last starts.
The Vanity 2023 Runner by Runner
1. See You In Heaven
Was desperately unlucky not to win this track and distance on Oaks Day. Her two runs since have been excellent and she gets Craig Williams back on. Rates highly.
2. Zennzella
Talented staying filly who won the Wakeful Stakes last prep. Imagine this is just a pipe opener first up with Oaks in mind.
3. Papillon Club
Was very good winning here on New Years Day and the jump out in between runs was excellent. Expecting her to measure up in this.
4. Queen Air
Did some nice things at the end of the spring. Was home hard in the Wakeful before a very solid third in the VRC Oaks. Dominant winning maiden first up and draws a lovely marble here. Each way.
5. Climbing Star
She was heavily supported in betting in the Manfred first up. Received a pretty ordinary/negative ride there being restrained all the way back to the rear. Liked the closing splits. Expect her to be much more prominent in the run here from the draw. Expecting her to run well.
6. Wollombi
Has won her last two at Warwick Farm against easier opposition.
7. Royal Merchant
Was good against the boys in the Manfred last start and gets James McDonald on.
8. Proscenium Arch
Nice filly who I think will get out over ground this prep. Happy to watch her first up.
9. Nunthorpe
Unbeaten filly trained by Peter Moody. Up sharply in grade from a class one win last start but the win rated well and she keeps Kah. Like the jump out in between runs too.
10. Love Nest
Comes through a strong Pakenham maiden where she finished third but this is surely too hard.
