A small field with plenty of class engaged. Mariamia is the standout of the lot and brings in the clear best form. Tim Clark can take her straight to the front and she will take plenty of running down. Electric Girl has strong claims fresh, maps well and usually runs well first up. This is a suitable race. The best version of Expat would give this a shake so keep an eye on the market towards its chances. The tempo should be solid in this.

1. Electric Girl (3)

Electric Girl is the big danger to Mariamia. Has a strong record fresh, races well on this track and looks suited to this field. Worth keeping safe and the early market support is interesting.

2. Mariamia (10)

Mariamia has to be the clear one to beat in this field. Tim Clark should land it on the speed and it has the clear cut best form of this lot. If it finds the front and gets control of the race it should be all over. The $1.80 is short enough but is a fair price.

3. Expat (9)

Expat went off the boil last prep but can bounce back in this. Flies fresh, lands on the bunny and comes right into play if the track is suiting those on speed.

4. Honeycreeper (8)

Will be an improver up in trip and later on in the prep. Can’t have fresh.

5. Cliff’s Art (7)

Can’t have.

6. Roots (6)

Has plenty of class and ability as well as a sharp turn of hoof. Keep an eye on the market but this race is within reach fresh and the map looks ideal. Top 4 chance.

7. Katalin (5)

Katalin does look a good hope in this field. Boasts a strong first up record, loves racing here and maps for a kind run in transit. Should be ready to fire fresh and this is a suitable target.

8. Grand Rumore (9)

This looks too tough.

9. Sonora (1)

Ticking along well but now strikes a decent leap in depth. The map is ideal from barrier 1 and Brett Prebble should be giving it every chance from there. In the mix.

10. Pavitra (4)

Can run well fresh. Best to keep an eye on the market for an indicator of its fitness levels. Suited by the kind draw and maps for a nice run in transit.
