Race 8 at Rosehill Racecourse on Saturday the 28th of January 2023.
The Hobartville Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Rosehill Racecourse and is run over 1400 metres. It is run under set weight conditions and is for horses aged three-years-old. The total prize money is $400,000 this year.

Hobartville Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Fine Weather: Good
Humble pie is still cooking in my kitchen after declaring Aft Cabin was too short a price last time out and it made a complete mockery of me. Off that win it deserves to be a short favourite in this and will take plenty of beating. Zou Tiger has a margin to bridge on Aft Cabin but will also be strips fitter. Osipenko had no luck behind the pair when caught wide while Pier creates interest having come across from NZ.
Hobartville Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Manzoice (13)
Prefer others.
2. Pier (6)
Comes across the ditch and creates intrigue in this race. Barrier 6 should ensure a kind run. Keep an eye on the market.
3. Aft Cabin (11)
Demolished them first up. Tim Clark does the steering and he is likely to go forward from the wide barrier. Beat most of this lot last start and bar bad luck should be winning again.
4. Osipenko (1)
Was given none with the steer last time out and should improve drastically in this with barrier 1. With the favourite drawn wide it does get its chance to turn the tables and has come up a good price.
5. Zou Tiger (7)
Decent first up effort behind Aft Cabin. Had its chance and couldn’t run the favourite down but put in a gallant effort. Place chance in this.
6. Matcha Latte (5)
Don’t mind Matcha Latte at odds here bringing in the different form lines. Maps kindly and Tom Sherry knows the horse well. Knockout hope at likeable odds…
7. Promitto (10)
Prefer in something easier.
8. Williamsburg (2)
Should improve out in trip but has many lengths to find on the favourite. Can’t have.
9. Communist (4)
Strong return behind Aft Cabin and maps for a nice run in transit with the in form Jason Collett. Has a few lengths to find on the favourite and that gap is a bit too far to suggest tipping here.
10. Brosnan (9)
Probably looking for a bit further but liked the return effort. Barrier 9 is slightly tricky but it will be flashing home late and is a place chance against this lot.
11. Lindermann (12) – SCRATCHED
12. Magic (3)
Needs to lift on current form. Prefer others.
13. Pavitra (8) – SCRATCHED
