The Heath 1100 2023 Race Details
Race 8 at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday the 2nd September 2023.
The Heath 1100 is an 1100 metre set weights plus penalties race for horses four-years-old and upwards run by the Melbourne Racing Club in late August or early September. It is held at Caulfield on Memsie Stakes day, and is the second leg of the MRC Everest series. The total prize money is $200,000 this year.

The Heath 1100 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Fifteen runners have accepted for the $200,000 Group 3 The Heath Handicap. It is no surprise to see Asfoora come up favourite in the early betting. She was very competitive at Group 1 level last prep and looks suited by the low draw. She should be able to settle in the first four in running and be in this for a long way. Magic Time is second favourite. She is a lightly raced four year old mare train by gun trainer Grheame Begg and has a stack of upside. Kallos has learnt how to win and is next pick in the market.
The Heath 1100 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Ingratiating
Godolphin trained galloper who won the Bletchingly Stakes here two starts ago. Rough chance.
2. Kallos
Won three of four in the Autumn and gets J Kah here first up. Solid each way claims.
3. Bella Nipotina – SCRATCHED
4. Ashford Street
Going well but is not up to these.
5. Masked Crusader
Has been in the wilderness a long long time. The recent Randwick trial was encouraging but I need to see him do it on race day.
6. Asfoora
Resumes. Speed machine who ran third in the Oakleigh Plate first up last preparation. That looks strong form for this. My only concern is that she’s just had the one jump leading in.
7. Generation
Saved from the Valley last week to run here. His best would give this a huge shake.
8. Starry Legend
Not good enough.
9. Midwest
Speedy customer trained by the Freedmans. She should be able to hold the lead but I suspect they might swamp her late.
10. On The Lead
Comes down from Sydney for this first up assignment. Will get back and attempt to run on.
11. Express Pass
Get back and run on galloper coming off a lengthy break. Risking.
12. Sigh
Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman trained mare. This is clearly her biggest test yet but she is just a winner and has drawn a lovely gate.
13. Magic Time
Did some lovely things in the Autumn and has jumped out well. Barrier and 1100m are slight queries for me here first up but she is a classy mare and I doubt we’ve seen her ceiling!
14. Wee Nessy
She was good with out winning in some good races in the Autumn and I thought her recent jump outs have been quite good.
15. La Danseuse
Can’t entertain in this company first up.
