W W Cockram Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 7 at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday the 2nd September 2023.
The W W Cockram Stakes is a Group 3 1200 metre set weights plus penalties race for mares four-years-olds and upwards run by the Melbourne Racing Club in late August or early September. It is held at Caulfield on Memsie Stakes day. The total prize money is $200,000 this year.

W W Cockram Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Strong edition of the Group 3 Cockram Stakes. Eleven remain in the field after the early scratching of Espiona. Parisal and Benedetta are clearly the top two picks, while the lightly raced C’est Magique is the big unknown coming off a lengthy lay off.
W W Cockram Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Espiona – SCRATCHED
2. Parisal
Has finished in the top two placings at six of seven starts. Sat wide yet still knuckled down and won like a very good race horse first up at Randwick. Kah goes on. Easy to like in this.
3. Papillon Club
Big fan of this mare who has three wins and three placings from her six starts. Think she might need this first up but is certainly one to keep an eye on once she gets up in trip.
4. Wrote To Arataki
Did some lovely things last prep against lesser opposition. Think she will run well but prefer her up in trip.
5. Bound For Home
Wasn’t disgraced her first up. Wouldn’t shock to see her run top 4 at huge odds.
6. Laced Up Heels
Was beaten less than a length here first up in the Regal Roller. $14 looks about her price.
7. Benedetta
Quality mare who has won five of her last six. She did enough first up to win and you’d expect to see her take good improvement from that with the senior jockey going on. Major player.
8. Dance To Dubai
Rock hard fit but looks outclassed.
9. C’est Magique
One of the more interesting runners on the card. Resumes off a lengthy break. Was last seen running second in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes. She’s clearly got the talent to be winning. Will be very scared of her if she is firm in the betting late.
10. Dazzling Lucy
Prefer others.
11. All About Eve
Can’t recommend.
12. Cute As
Not here.
