Ranvet Stakes – 2022

Six runners have accepted for the $700,000 Group 1 Ranvet Stakes and there have been no early scratchings. With the small field size, each trainer only has one entrant each.

Verry Elleegant has opened up the $1.35 favourite as she looks to take out the race she won last year and placed the year before. She is coming off a very nice 0.25 length win in the Chipping Norton, running some terrific sectionals and showing the world that she is still the Verry Elleegant of old. She is looking to be the latest back-to-back winner of the event with the last being Theseo in 2009/2010. Montefilia is second favourite in the betting after her distant second behind Verry Elleegant in the Chipping Norton first-up.

Angel of Truth rounds out the top three in the betting, where he also ran in the Chipping Norton, finishing a very good third, 1.25 lengths off the champion mare.

He was outstanding first-up. Distance will be no worries and neither will the conditions. Will lead and be hard to get past.

2. Entente (6)

He was ordinary in the Randwick City Stakes. Will want a firmer surface for his best. Can’t take him on recent performances.

3. Sikandarabad (1)

Finished a distant seventh in the Canberra Mile. Will appreciate the distance rise and will get a nice cheque for turning up.

4. Emissary (3)

Entered for here and Flemington. Form has been okay but it’s all been on firmer ground. Look for a big run if they stay in Sydney

5. Verry Elleegant (4)

The champion mare looking to go back-to-back in both wins and winner of this race. Should make light work of her opposition.

6. Montefilia (2)

Will be fighting out a placing, needs to improve on last start to be a factor against Verry Elleegant.
