Rosehill Guineas – 2022

Nine runners have accepted for the $600,000 Group 1 Rosehill Guineas and there are no early scratchings. Despite there being nine runner, each trainer only has the one entrant each.

Anamoe is the early favourite for this 2000m contest following his narrow defeat in the Randwick Guineas to rival Converge. He started awkwardly last start which put him behind the eight-ball straight away and in the end it cost him the race, as he had to settle further back than anticipated. Converge was the winner of the race and starts this race as the second favourite after opting to contest this race instead of the George Ryder. He is looking to be the first since The Autumn Sun in 2019 to win the Randwick Guineas/Rosehill Guineas double.

Profondo rounds out the top 3 in the betting, coming off a poor showing at Flemington in the Australian Guineas.

Draw has done him no favours and will likely give a start again. Handles the ground and 2000m. Deserved favourite.

2. Converge (8)

Timed his run last start to perfection. First go at 2000m but it shouldn’t be an issue. He will be fighting out the finish.

3. Profondo (6)

Raced wide without cover last start and hung out early in the straight. Positive jockey change and 2000m suits. Place chance

4. Forgot You (4)

Ran a solid race in the Australian Guineas. 2000m suits as he peaks in fitness. Place chance.

5. Raging Bull (5)

Longer the distance, the better he gets but he is outclassed here.

6. Sword Point (7)

Got some X Factor about him. Stepping up from Benchmark 78 quality to a Group 1. Prefer others.

7. Sinba (1)

Outclassed.

8. Three Wise Men (3)

Another who will be outclassed.

9. Mediaro (2)

Entered for Goulburn Friday. Unlikely he runs here but if he does, he is running for prizemoney only.
