She Can Sing leads the betting for the Michael Costa stable this year. It has to overcome a wide draw but loves racing at the track and will be hard to beat. Kisukano is classy and fires over the 1100, its a huge chance in this. Miss Jay Fox is the interesting runner from Sydney and can land on the speed and give backers a great sight. It brings in the right form lines and makes this a competitive race with some good value about. The speed will be on up front with plenty of these being leaders.

1. Pennino (1)

1/1 at the track but I am not sure barrier 1 suits given it’ll settle back in the field but Brooker knows the horse well and it is a sound chance.

2. Kisukano (14)

Very classy and has provided some booming runs in its day. I am not sure Kisukano is at her very best but still will make this a fierce competition and I really like her over the 1100. Has to be hard to beat in a field of this quality but the draw doesn’t make things easy.

3. Tahitian Dancer (6)

Hasn’t run or won for quite some time so unless there is a market push its a no from me.

4. Smart ‘n’ Sexy (8)

Not a noted first-up performer but has a very good turn of foot when things go right. I am weary and think it is worth monitoring any market moves for Smart’n’Sexy. Have to respect the placement here despite the average fresh record.

5. Boomtown Lass (2)

Certainly a chance from the good draw although the record at the Gold Coast is a little concerning. Relishes a good track so conditions will play a vital role in the chances of Boomtown Lass.

6. Say Haya (11)

Good roughie and can win this at odds. Gollan is the master at these races and Say Haya is 1/1 over the track and trip. Big respect.

7. Pull Anchor (3)

Tough running pattern to catch but Pull Anchor does have a good turn of foot and plenty of talent. Things could get slightly awkward from the draw and I am not sure the map is ideal but if the splits come down the centre it can win this.

8. She Can Sing (12)

Loves the Gold Coast with 2 wins from 4 runs and is also unbeaten over the 1100 from two attempts. Needs luck from the draw but is hard to beat with even luck in running.

9. Winside (15)

Always had plenty of time for Winside. It certainly knows where the line is and will be on the speed fighting. Great chance and is in career best form.

10. Bad Barista (10)

The map looks tough but Bad Barista can certainly win this. Small each-way chance, the 1100 suits.

11. Nicci Trix (13)

No problems with the form of Nicci Trix but has struggled to put away its last 3 races. Llloyd is a talented rider and he will know what to do from barrier 11. Good chance at a nice price.

12. Miss Jay Fox (9)

I like the form of Miss Jay Fox in this and it does draw slightly better than its rivals. Big respect and if it can find the front it will be very hard to run down.

13. Befana (5)

Knows there the line is but does have a poor record at the track and I am suspicious of its form. Can win, but not in my top 4.

14. I’m A Foxygirl (4)

Can’t have.

15. Hedonie (7)

Was going well months ago but can’t have.
