2022 Darby Munro Stakes Race Details
Race 2 at Rosehill on Saturday 19th March 2022.
The Darby Munro Stakes is a Listed 1200 metre set weights plus penalties race for the three-year-olds that is run by the Australian Turf Club in March. The winner of the Darby Munro Stakes is exempt from the 2022 Arrowfield 3yo Sprint. It is run at Rosehill during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Darby Munro Stakes 2022 Preview
Track: Soft-Heavy Weather: 80% chance of showers (1-5mm).
Fourteen runners have accepted for the $140,000 Listed Darby Munro Stakes, though there has been one early scratching, which leaves us with a field thirteen. The Chris Waller stable are saddling up three runners, The Waterhouse/Bott stable, James Cummings stable and the Snowden stable are all saddling up two runners each whilst the remaining trainers have just the one runner.
Mazu has opened the early favourite here and remaining unbeaten last start, winning the Fireball by just over a length. His run can have extra merit added to it as he lost a plate in the run. Bacchanalia is second favourite, returning first-up after an 80 day break.
Smirnova rounds out the top three in the market after a luckless fifth at Moonee Valley in much weaker company.

First-up. This is the easiest he has faced in some time. Would rather see though.
2. O’President (7)
Poor first-up. Can’t have.
3. Ingratiating (11)
Back from Group 1 company. Can run a race but would like the track to dry out.
4. Mazu (1)
Going for three-in-a-row. Drawn ideally and only goes up half a kg from his last start win. Hard to beat.
5. Bacchanalia (13)
Winkers off. Won the Gosford Guineas last preparation. Will run a race but the favourite will be too sharp.
6. Bend The Knee (2)
First-up. Can run a race but I prefer him over 1400m. Place chance.
7. Fox Fighter (14)
Got injured last start. Prefer others.
8. Chartres (4)
Winkers on. Ran a big race last start in the Zeditave Stakes first-up, almost a career high. Extra points added for wet track. Could run a big race at odds.
9. Minsk Moment (3)
Far from his best first-up. Need to see improvement to back.
10. Omni Man (5)
Going for three in a row. This is tougher.
11. Robodira (8)
SCRATCHED
12. Shihonka (12)
Back from Group 1 company. Can’t have.
13. Latino Blend (9)
Can’t have.
14. Smirnova (10)
Should have won last start but copped some bad luck. This is much tougher.
