QTIS Jewel 3YO – 2022

Track: Soft   Weather: Fine

The QTIS Jewel 3YO race has a prize pool of $500,000 and so it attracts plenty of talent this year is no exception with a bunch of promising 3-year-olds. Prince Of Boom leads the betting from the Heathcote stable and its talent lives up to its name, especially off its last win. Tiger Legend has had a name change and has an abundance of ability. The ever consistent Legal Esprit is also in the mix in what shapes to be a cracking race.

1. Tiger Legend (11)

Tiger Legend has had a name change from Tiger Heart and has shown plenty of promise in its career. Maloney will need to be at his best from barrier 11 but I am sure there are high aspirations for this talented three-year-old. Great chance and its recent trial was a good piece of work.

2. Prince Of Boom (6)

Well named and has plenty of boom about it. Orman will be getting a delightful run from barrier 6. The question is how high is the ceiling for Prince Of Boom? It is going up sharply in grade but is hard to beat here.

3. Ahooshu (14)

Consistent but has to run a career peak to win. I’d want a market push before considering.

4. Legal Esprit (13)

Will be hitting the line hard and has won at the track in the past. Legal Esprit does like a bit of cut in the ground so conditions will play a vital role to its chances. Has to be some hope.

5. Gemelon Bolt (9)

Going okay but others are preferred.

6. Blackjack Boom (2)

I have plenty of time for Blackjack Boom and it has a lot of ability. Lands in a plum spot from the draw and this race will really test where it is at. Poor last start and needs to find quite the margin on Prince Of Boom but it always pays to be forgiving of a poor run. It is in the mix.

7. Birriecart (10)

Flying and the ceiling is also unknown for this one. No favours from barrier 10 but Thornton sticks and it is hard to find a negative besides the draw. Outstanding chance and is in fine form.

8. Zuma California (4)

Not the worst at odds and does get a nice draw. Callow rides the Gold Coast extremely well. Knockout hope.

9. Mishani Sniper (8)

Could surprise these but it isn’t in my numbers. Keep an eye on market moves for it.

10. Better Than Epic (1)

Can’t have.

11. Enterprise Pomme (15)

Lobs on the speed and gives a sight. First look at the track and barrier 15 are the niggles but will certainly be in this for a long way and is a model of consistency.

12. Baristasista (7)

Can’t have.

13. Magnetic Drive  (5)

Going well and can measure up. Sound chance to run a place at big odds.

14. Ilikeit Iloveit (12)

Consistent but needs to run a peak in this.

15. Boho Beauty (3)

Comes off the poly track and has to be respected. Not hopeless at odds.
