With the early scratching of Titan Blinders there are 15 runners for the 2024 Tabtouch Pinjarra Classic with 13 geldings and 2 mares. There are two 4YOs, seven 5YOs, two 6YOs, two 7YOs, one 8YO and one 9YO. Four runners had their last start in the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes over 1200m at Bunbury on 10th February (won by Real Danger), three in the Group 1 Northerly Stakes over 1800m at Ascot on 9th December (won by Dom To Shoot) and two in a 2YO+ BM 84+ Handicap over 1600m at Ascot on 3rd February (won by No Apology), while the rest came via different races.

The early favourite is 4YO Aztec Ruler who resumes after 21 weeks and has 5 wins and 3 places from his 10 starts. Second favourite is Real Danger who has won the Listed Scenic Blast Stakes and the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes at her last 2 starts. Third favourite is Trix Of The Trade who has won 9 of his 20 starts. Red Fifty Three is a last-start winner and has won 7 of his 15 starts, while Mojo Rhythm won the Group 3 R J Peters Stakes last preparation and resumes from an 11 week let-up. The other runners are currently $10 or longer.

1. Trix Of The Trade (6)

Has won 9 of his 20 starts and has had an 11 week let-up since finishing 4.2 lengths 11th in the Group 1 Northerly Stakes over 1800m at Ascot on 9th December. Goes well at this distance range and won his only previous start at at this track. Should go well.

2. Hot Zed (7)

Won this race last year. Was wide throughout when 7th in the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes over 1200m at Bunbury on 10th February. Not the worst.

3. Real Danger (9)

She has won the Listed Scenic Blast Stakes and the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes at her last 2 starts. Capable of bringing up the hat-trick here.

4. Searchin’ Roc’s (14)

Her last 2 starts have been at Group 1 level but she’s finished well back in the field. Prefer others.

5. Mojo Rhythm (12)

Playing God gelding that won the Group 3 R J Peters Stakes last preparation and resumes from an 11 week let-up.  Goes well fresh and it wouldn’t surprise to see him in the finish.

6. River Rubicon (11)

Resumes after 11 weeks and is back to his best distance range. Place chance.

7. Titan Blinders (16)  – scratched

8. Aztec Ruler (4)

Resumes after 21 weeks and has 5 wins and 3 places from his 10 starts. Can go well fresh and is one of the key chances.

9. Cheval De Vaga (5)

Finished 5th of 6 in a 2YO+ BM 84+ Handicap over 1600m at Ascot on 3rd February (won by No Apology). Prefer others.

10. Cold Shizzle (1)

Perfectly drawn but this looks too tough.

11. Crescent City (2)

Resumes from a 24 week spell and is better over further.

12. Media Baron (13)

This 9YO is the oldest runner in the race this year. Resumes from a 27 week spell and has won 1 of 11 first-up runs. Unlikely.

13. Mood Swings (15)

Was 3rd to Real Danger in the Cyril Flower last outing. Place chance.

14. Red Fifty Three (3)

A last-start winner over 1200m at Ascot and has won 7 of his 15 starts. This is his first black-type race. Chance.

15. Saintorio (8)

Finished 4th in the Cyril Flower. prefer others.

16. Weaponson (10)

Ran 3rd behind No Apology in a 2YO+ BM 84+ Handicap over 1600m at Ascot on 3rd February. In the mix.
