The race was first run in 1998 over 1300m when it was won by a horse called Sounds Of Legend ridden by Paul Harvey and trained by Jim Taylor. In 2018 it was run over 1200m at Ascot and in 2012 and 2013 it was run over 1500m but all other runnings have been over 1300m
