Let’s Elope Stakes 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

All eyes will be on rising Western Australian Superstar Amelia’s Jewel as she kicks off her Cox Plate campaign.  She has been backed into odds-on in the early betting but gets no favours drawing barrier 15.   There are a host of chances on the next line of betting at $11.

Let’s Elope Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner

1. Amelia’s Jewel

Superstar mare from the West.  Won the Group 1 Northerly Stakes last December before running a huge race in the $4,000,000 Quokka.  She is going to be spotting them a big start which is not easy to do over 1400m at Flemington but has class on her side.

2. See You In Heaven

She’s a good mare who rarely misses top three.  Was second at Listed Level behind Seonee in Adelaide last start.  Map horse.

3. Shuffle Dancer

Lightly raced mare who did some nice things last prep.  I don’t love the map.

4. Caste

Was impressive winning her last three races including the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes last campaign.  Again I don’t love the map.  But expecting her to run well.

5. Foxy Frida

Top class mare who had a super Autumn.  Won three times.  She can run well here first up.

6. Wrote To Arataki

Her run first up in the Cockram was excellent.  Much better suited here stepping to 1400m and should be much closer in the run.  She looks a great each way bet at $11.

7. Papillon Club

Loved her run first up in the Cockram.  Drawn sticky but if they head forward and she gets across to outside lead then she has a huge place chance.

8. El Patroness

Resuming and is looking for further.  Look for her hitting the line late.

9. Sparkle

First up.  Yet to prove herself at this level but she should be up on speed with Blake Shinn in the saddle.

10. Elusive Express

Resumes with J Kah in the saddle.  Not hopeless but prefer others.

11. Toregene

First up.  She’s talented and should get a nice run forward of midfield.

12. Pride Of Jenni

Was Group 1 placed in the Coolmore at Rosehill in the Autumn.  Another who has plenty of early pace but normally needs a pipe opener.

13. Pippali

Has run well at both starts this prep.  Not sure she’s good enough to win.  But is a sneaky place chance if they over do the speed.

14. Life Lessons

Ran home well in an easier race first up.  Needs to improve.

15. Tajneed  – SCRATCHED
