The Shorts 2023 Race Details
Race 8 at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday the 16th of September 2023.
The Shorts is a Group 2 race held at Randwick Racecourse and is run over 1100 metres. It is run under set weights and penalties conditions and is for horse aged three-years-old and older. The total prize money is $1,000,000 this year.

The Shorts 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
A few of these racing with the build up to The Everest. In Secret is one of those and should be primed from the good draw. Maps kindly and looks well poised to give this race a shake. Overpass can lead these up and prove hard to peg back. Likeable claims. Remarque was an excellent last start winner and can measure up to these while Buenos Noches also has good claims from the good draw with Gibbo sticking.
The Shorts 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Private Eye (9)
Will be storming home late. Has a booming turn of foot and is up to these.
2. Mazu (10)
Claims go well and truly up if the track is in the wet range. Tough draw but has place claims.
3. Lost And Running (8)
Has claims and plenty of class. Should give this race a shake.
4. Overpass (1)
Can lead them up from barrier 1 and give a kick. Love the formlines it brings to this and can control the race from the get go. Hard to beat.
5. In Secret (4)
Narrowly denied by Remarque fresh but it was a good return. Maps kindly and looks well poised in this.
6. Buenos Noches (3)
Got the job done for us last start with a peach of a ride. Harder here but heads into this with some strong claims. Can get a nice run from the draw and should be there at the business end.
7. Remarque (2)
Has really come of age and looks hard to beat in this field. Kind map and draw, hard to beat and is a shade over the odds.
8. Ruthless Dame (7)
Brings in some handy form lines and looks an improver off last run. Should camp off the speed and be hitting the line hard.
9. Hawaii Five Oh (5)
Hard to beat fresh. Really hit its straps last prep and is a market watch in this.
10. Rocketing By (6)
Can’t have.
11. Athelric (12)
Prefer others.
12. Casino Lord (11)
Out of depth in this.
